Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

Hi,So, for those that don't know, I'll update things here.I'm not sure how many people have managed to upgrade to the new sync - as it's now called resilio sync.Anyway, if you haven't, there's now something called sync pro. This allows you to download all the directory and file structure without actually downloading the files to your machine. To do so, all you need to do is go to the file or folder in question, right click, and hit sync to this device. If the files aren't actually there, they have a placeholder extension. In this case, it would be timberwolf001.mp3..rsls, which I guess stands for resilio sync. Anyway, this file starts out to be 0 bytes, even if the actual mp3 was 500 MB. Clicking sync to this device will simply connect to everything else that has it and download it to your machine.I hate sendspace - but a lot of people still use it, sadly, despite this, in my opinion, superior option.Sync pro is
$45 I believe for a lifetime license. I've been using it since late 2015 and have no complaints.I should also add that the new sync interface, if installed as a service, is 100 % accessible via a web interface.

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

A note for those of you downloading this folder. From my previous posts, you can see that because of problems with BTSync, I gave up after download about 70GB or about 850 files. BTSync seemed stuck, it ran for six hours and didn't download a single byte. After comparing the list of files I got with the Blind Movie Vault, only two files appeared to be something the movie vault didn't have, one of those turned out to be a single episode of a TV show the movie vault already had, and the other wasn't audio described.Pretty disappointing.

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

I saw that, but thought that was only for Linux.  Does it work with Windows too?I could check this myself but I already have version 1.3.109.0 installed and running. The installer for it didn't offer installing it as a service, and since it is the only version I can access with JAWS, I don't want to replace it unless I know for certain that the version I install can be accessed through my browser.---Unfortunately, it appears that BTSync isn't designed to be stopped and restarted very often, such as daily, because it's been running for six hours today and hasn't downloaded a single byte despite having four other devices to sync with.Since I'm not inclined to leave my computer on for the nine days it would probably take to download the entire folder, I am going to have to pass on this.Considering it's size, it would have been far better if the original bit torrent had been used.

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

If you run BTSync as a software service, you can use your normal web browser for the interface.I'm not sure which version you need to have to do this, I know it's one of the later versions, because from version 2 up, it's not accessible for some reason, yet if you install it as a software service and run it that way it is.No scripts or addons needed. The interface is just like any other webpage.Setting it up however can be a little tricky. You need to know the name of your windows profile folder.A bit of jumping through hoops if you ask me, I'm just glad I was able to get it to work.Sadly you can't pick what you want to download with these things, it's all or nothing.I was once part of a folder that had a bunch of NVDA addons, but left it because people were uploading crap that had nothing to do with NVDA.

Sorry, I'm not at all familiar with NVDA, just telling me to use the object navigation key isn't helpful, and unless I decide to switch to NVDA as my primary screen reader, I'm not inclined to wade through it's documentation just to find one key. After fussing with it for a while and getting nowhere, I gave up on NVDA and the BTSync add-on as useless. At least with JAWS I had some access using the touch curser. Some documentation for this program would be really helpful, but after some more exploring using JAWS' convenient OCR function, I figured out that you apparently don't add or remove devices, but instead you add or remove folders.I also figured out that the reason two devices are showing up is because the local folder isn't empty, so the local PC is created as a device to check if any of the files in the local folder need to be synced to the remote folder. Until I hear different, that is what I am going to assume is going
on.---Confirmed, as soon as the number of files to sync reached 0, the second device, which was my local folder, disappeared from the device list.It takes a while to get there, but my download speed right now is just over 1 MB per second. Not too shabby, I guess.

When I run it, all I get is an apparently blank window. I found a message that said that the program's main window is created using HTML and that to access it I have to get JAWS to focus on it to switch to treating it as a web page. So far, no luck.Aren't there any alternatives to this program that is accessible?I found an earlier version from before it apparently changed hands on FileHippo.com but am reluctant to try it because I suspect it will have the same problem the version I downloaded has, and that is that it is completely inaccessible using JAWS.

I got curious, so I asked Lee, the guy who manages and maintains the Blind Mice Movie Vault, if there was a specific reason why they use Sendspace over Dropbox. He said that it was because Dropbox monitors who downloads any particular file and when it sees the file being downloaded by too many different people, the file is removed or downloads of it are permanently blocked. Not very appropriate for the Movie Vault. He said this happens regardless of whether the Dropbox account hosting the file is a free or paid account. So, since Sendspace has no such restrictions, several paid accounts are used to host the Movie Vault's files. I didn't ask why they use several accounts, it wasn't important. So it appears
that Dropbox isn't a good choice for hosting files you intend to share, regardless of whether your account is free or paid, the shared files will eventually be blocked from further downloads.@mastodontUnless it's part of a name, I believe that sync is spelled s y n c, not s I n c.@ArqmeisterI did some further checking, and learned that only the theatrical (shorter) versions of the Lord of the Rings movies got audio description. @figmenti'm sorry if I have offended you in any way but that wasn't my point. I just wanted to point out the huge differences between the two services, but everyone has the right to choose what suits him. I'm greatfull to those audio described services and I use them aswell. I already knew about those services, and I'm sure that your topic was extremely for those who don't, but if you carefully read the first post and the topic's title I was asking for the secret of a BT sinc folder not for those sources.

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

@mastodontSo each cloud storage solution has it's own way to entice you to buy a paid account. Dropbox uses storage and bandwidth limits, while Sendspace uses download speed limits. Big harry frogging deal! Especially when that isn't what this thread is about. You came hear asking for sources for audio described content, and people have responded with the sources they use, and what do they get in return? Rude and disparaging remarks about their choices just because you don't like them.If you are going to play the entitlement game and refuse anything that isn't free or meets your criteria for what is acceptable, I believe you'll find your choices to be rather limited. Nobody owes you anything! Be thankful for what is available@Sean-Terry01Besides bragging, what purpose was your message supposed to accomplish, and how does it contribute to the topic of the discussion? I'm asking because, from what I read, it sounds like
nothing but bragging.@ArqmeisterI have the extended edition DVDs, I'll check and see if they have an audio description track, although I've heard you have to get the blue ray discs to get audio description.@EveryoneFor me, I view my paid Sendspace account like a subscription that gives me unlimited cloud storage that's fully accessible plus downloadable audio described content. At less than $9 a month it competes quite well with streaming services like Netflix, but with the pluses of cloud storage and the content is downloadable instead of streamed. I'll take it with a big Thank you! Here are the sources I use for audio described content with their URLs. Enjoy!Blind Mice Movie VaultThis is my primary source of audio described content, they use Sendspace, so if you don't have a Sendspace Pro account, download speeds will be metered. To be able to

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

hmmm I've never had accessibility problems with dropbox. Though their storage limit is very small for free users their download speeds are far greater, I've downloaded files from dropbox with speeds up to 1.5 mb/s and on sendspace I think the limit is 80 kb/s, bloody slow in my opinion.

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

As far as I know, only the Blind Mice Movie Vault uses sendspace. And while they may have free account limitations, at least they are fully accessible. From what I understand, you can't say that about dropbox, free or paid.

It's donated to them. Usually they're recorded in parts of the world where people have audio described content, then they edit out the commercials. You can find more info on what they do here

There's also stuff I know has been described but which I can't find. I wonder where that blindy tv thing gets there stuff.Only the blind mice movie vault seems to update regularly; the rest have much less and it's rare for them to have something the movie vault doesn't.

I use those sites to download movies aswell but they use sendspace and that's bloody slow on my end and i'm not willing to pay for higher speed when they should atleast provide that for free considering the other limitation that they have for free users.

Currently, I have 1631 movies described. I'm still growing with it. I also have almost 200 different audio described TV series. I have quite a few documentaries as well. I'm going to make one of my external hard drive's nothing but audio described content!  I am very nearly at 480 gigs of described content!

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

Agreed. The thing is, though, I wish we were a bit more lucky in the community as a whole. For instance, here in the UK, we can legally watch Doctor Who described, and iPlayer has an audio description setting for catch up episodes, but in the US you guys seem to be stuck with downloads. The same can be said for us too. I can't get Alien on dvd with audio description but I can download it from a website. With the websites as well, we have to rely on the person behind it to update it when new stuff comes out, and there's some things missing. For instance, Age of Ultron is one of the missing things that's definitely audio described.

Re: audio described movies BT sinc folder

I prefer to download my movies from The Blind Mice Movie Vault, Ray Star's World, or jeff Rutkowski's, primarily because, that way you know you are getting stuff you'll actually be interested in rather than a bunch of files you just end up deleting.
