Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

Hi there! There is a trick which partially helps with the stereo. Of course you get the dialogue when connecting the speakers. Use arrows to go to the last item, tab, select "external speakers, large". Then, if you have the same driver for del (released in 2017), go to waves maxxaudio pro app, navigate to the text saying how good it is to have Waves. bla bla. Navigate with otject navigator once to the right. There is an unlabeled button. Use NVDA+Backspace to move focus there and press enter/space bar. I don't know how this will work on surround, but this is the best I can do on my own for now. I think we should write to Dell support and ask them to fix the interface. Sounds simple, right? Never mind. It annoys me to. I haven't been able to fix the automatic headphone dolby effect though.

I tried disable signal enhancements through the control pannel, but 5.1 still doesn't seem to work properly. Stil seems to output simulated 3d audio. Who'd've thought setting up an analogue 5.1 surround system would be this annoying or complicated?

Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

In order to disable this, you have to go to your audio device's properties in the Windows sound control panel and turn off the signal enhancements checkbox under the advanced tab. Do this step for each of your audio devices. To solve your problem with the list items, you use object navigation. Arrow through the list and check which item you have selected by pressing NVDA+numpad 2 or NVDA+shift+down arrow if you're using a laptop. Don't turn off the dialog; you need to use it to select what kind of audio device you have because of competing 3.5 MM audio standards.

I've got a temporary workaround. but it'll stop working once you unplug your device til the next restart.Just disable the max audio pro services, and restart your PC with the audio device plugged in and it will direct the sound normally.Hope this helps

Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

Maxx audio, as others have said is quite crap when it comes to accessibility. However, at least one thing does work, you can get rid of that popup yourself.Plug in whatever device, and wait for the popup to appear. Now, select the correct thing you want in the list, but don't press enter. Instead, using NVDA's object  navigation, probably Jaws touch cursor too, getting out of that list and exploring further you'll see an element that says don't show this again, or something similar. Routing  the mouse to it and performing a click should be enough to achieve what you want, though if you ever want the popup back I have no idea how you would do so accessibly, since when I wanted this I had to reinstall the driver.

Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

You verbally give them your team viewer info once you call them, they're pretty quick about it, they're usually connected in under 30 seconds. aside from the jaws offer, everyone gets free 5 minute calls every few hours.I have no idea how this would work with a sound system because I've never used one, but for me all I had to do was plug in my headphones, have them disable sound enhancements, disconnect them, and do the same with bluetooth audio. I assume there's a way to select inputs somewhere in there, but personally I didn't want to mess with it. I also specifically left it on for speaker audio, as on a laptop without it it gets really tinny. The particular popup I'm talking about is the one that appears when you plug something into the headphone port asking what device you've connected. If you don't want enhancements at all, your choice here shouldn't matter anyways so I had Aira just uncheck the don't show this box again thing.

Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

Curious as to how Aira works with teamviewer. Do I submit the info via the phone app and then have them conect with me on Teamviewer?Back to the main issue, once disabling the sound enhancements, do I have to set manually what each input on my computer actually is? Not entirely sure how that works... because once I get rid of the popup, obviously I won't be able to actually select the source I want.

Yes, I did mean the Max Audio Pro control panel, I should have been clearer on that.As defender said, Aira and team viewer is your best bet, they just have to click disable sound enhancements on the main window. Even if you can't get the jaws offer, you can likely get it done in the 5 minute free call. You can also get them to get rid of the popup that appears every time you plug in a new device.

Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

I assume you mean the max audio pro control pannel... and unfortunately, sighted assistance is not an option right now. I will have to stick with the generic drivers for now and hope it doesn't clash with anything else... the headphone jack on the sound system itself will have to do. In anenvironment that's supposed to be as open as Windows ought to be, this is super annoying. But there are benefits to custom builds, I guess. Most people probably don't care, but having everything matrixed in a horrible attempt to emulate 5.1 on a system that's actually built for that is an awful audio experience. lol

Re: Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

You should be able to disable sound enhancements with sighted help from the control panel, keep in mind that it's device specific so you'll have to do it for each separate thing you plug in. I've never tried it with a sound system but assume you can still do this.  You could then use a program to loop silence so that you don't constantly lose the first second of speech.I have no idea how to get rid of it, it auto installs even after a clean install of windows. The only way to get it to stop is to use the generic drivers, but as you've already discovered that has problems of its own.If you find a way to completely get rid of it do let us know.

Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

Just got a new del computer, the xps 8940 I posted a while ago. Trying to set up my 5.1 surround sound system through the analogue jacks at the back, but Del is using something called Max Audio Pro to enhance audio and is messing with the process. It's trying to matrix all 5 channels because of course, we all want fake 3d audio... and there seems to be no way to disable it so I can just get pure, simple analogue surround. The only solution I found was to switch to the microsoft high def device driver, but the problem with that is then the headphones don't capture NVDA as it comes through the center channel. Have asked all over the place including the windows 10 blind users list and noone has been able to come up with anything. Has there really been noone else that's had to deal with this? The PC is great for everything other than that. Any thoughts? Thanks! Google hasn't been particularly helpful either. Can't believe how anoying this is.. this is the first time I have experienced a computer that litterally forces you to use their audio enhancements by default. Gross.
