I do sort of wish that their playlists were ordered chronologically (at least from what I've seen). Would be super helpful to know what comes before what without having to wikipedia stuff.

Re: Why don’t we have any comic books

Comicstorian does just fine, in my view. Check out Comics Explained and Variant Comics as well. I also tend to look up characters online with the search as *character name* Character Comic Vine and they'll give you a pretty good rundown of things. I wish we had comics, comics are my passion, it's taken me a lot to build up the knowledge I have. If you have any questions, please, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Comic Books

I'm a huge omic book fan more marvel and DC though i love batman and i love dc villains. I've seen some embosed stuffone of  them being a picture of tweety bird. the problem was I had no clue what it was a pick of so unless  the embossing was very, very detailed and not all crushed together then I think  it could be done but it would I assume take a lot of time to do this. There is a website called comics empower that creates they're own comic and records them but  no marvel or dc stuff. it's kind of intereting but i can't figure out how to buy a whole series at once.

Re: Comic Books

I am a fan of Marvel and DC too. And I would love to read actual comic books. Not sure, if embossed comic books would sell very well, especially, if you think about it in a global matter. I wonder however, if it would be possible, to make the digital versions of these books sort of accessible. Maybe, with some kind of OCR-software or something...And if you guys are interested in Marvel or DC stuff, there is something called motion comic. They are some kind of half animated TV-Shows. It is difficult to describe it. I think, the producers took the comic and filmed each panel, and then added voices, sounds and music to it. You can get them from iTunes.

Re: Comic Books

@CAE_Jones,I imagine I'd need some level of sighted intervention.  I don't think plopping in a digital rendering of a comic book would do me any justice aside from seeing what the outcome would be.  Hell, I haven't the first clue of how to even get a high-res pic of the comic book.  And I can't get just any sighted person, I'd need somebody who knows how Duxbury works and how tactile tech works in terms of the software. My embosser supports producing graphics.  How well is of another question.  I have the Trident from Enabling Technologies, which is now considered legacy hardware.  Had my AT specialist and I knew of the future of this product, we'd have explored better, less noisy options... Oh well.  Eventually this will be sold as I haven't used this any more than just testing it.I wonder how much demand there would actually be for something like this among the blind.  Surely it sounds
neat, but comics are not for everyone, and I forget sometimes that I'm a geek.Luke

I love Marvel/DC stuff, however I don't collect the comics. Once I've got enough cash, I might go online and buy some of the Marvel and DC Graphic Audio books.

Re: Comic Books

If you can successfully emboss comics in decent quality, contact Marvel/DC (And maybe Image or Dark Hors etc?), and get someone who knows how to talk business with pros, and seek permission do this. Then start embossing money. After the licensers' cut. I am embarrassingly uninformed as to the present state of tactile graphics. I have seen decent shading and texture in some books (Touch the Stars being the most saliant example that comes to mind), but I have no idea how those are produced. They do seem to prefer that particular type of plastic, though. Even though I saw plenty of textbook-style graphics on more standard braille paper in the 90s... o_o. But yeah. Embossing comics seems really hard to emboss. They are carefully crafted to make use of all of the space in each panel, and font size/style/etc are figured into that. Also shading and color. You'd more or less need to blow up a single panel to a whole (or at least half) tactile page, unless y
ou've got a really high-res embosser. And if you want the text converted to braille and positioned in its proper place, we're back to 1 panel per page. But then we have panels that don't conform to a standard pattern, or panels arranged in such a way that their bing on the same page in a certain configuration is part of the effect.I would totally put a comic through an embosser if "i had one. I just wouldn't expect it to turn out very well. I'm going to go update my knowledge of current tactile graphics tech, now. In spite of the knit-picking, I really like the idea. Oh, ur, yeah, I guess I skippg the first 3/4 of your post to flip out about embossing comics. Well, there are some major "event" comics at graphicaudio, and I think there are some as regular audiobooks, somehow. There are some sites with summaries/transcripts around, but I'm only familiar with Uncannyxmen.net. I know nothing about newer releases, other than some r
eviews concerning recent practices from Marvel and DC on Youtube. Actually, there's probably a lot of good stuff on Youtube, too. Although I mostly just spent way too much cellular data watching Atop the Fourth Wall over the weekend, and don't have much else to add.

Comic Books

Hello all,I never thought I would get into Marvel or DC related things, but that all changed when I discovered Netflix's unveiling of Marvel's Luke Cage.  I then watched Jessica Jones, followed by Iron Fist.I'm discovering another facet of my, well, inner geek, and I picked up a Luke Cage comic book.  Nothing fancy, just a $4 comic book at a local thrift shop-like place.I guess the point of this post is to see if anyone else is fascinated with Marvel or DC, and if anyone actually collects comic books.  Surely I'll get many bites concerning Marvel and DC, but comic books might be a different tale.I picked this up for a few reasons.  First, I was going to just have someone sighted go through the book with me to describe what is happening (just to get a feel for what comics are like), and secondly, to see if I can take high-res pics of the book, import into Duxbury, and emboss a graphic of each page.  I'm s
ure this has been done, and maybe this will be a waste of time, but I just thought it would be a neat little project.Any thoughts?I await the day Marvel's Defenders comes out (August 18th)!Luke
