Re: DOS Vinyl Boot Disk

If I am remembering right, I have heard about this earlyer this week on the TWIT network. Not to sure why you would want to use Vinyl when tape is so much smaller. Then again, think how many Vinyls you would need to have to boot windows. Talking about a long time to boot. For those who are wondering, it sounds alot like dialup when you pick up on a line being used by said dialup. Did I just date myself? LOL.

DOS Vinyl Boot Disk

DOS Vinyl Boot Disk

As reported by [rockpapershotgun]:Someone it seems has taken the absolutely daft idea of encoding a copy of FreeDOS as a soundwave and imprinted it on a custom 10" Vinyl record... and then booting a system off it as a read only RAM drive thats 64k in size. For those who want the juicy nerd details, you can read the article or check out the guy's blog [here], where you can download an audio recording of the disk image and listen to the tune of DOS, or encode your own vinyl boot disk.Definitely gives a new meaning to the term "classical music"...
