Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

I have downloaded many multicarts and unlicensed ROMs from the CaH4e3 site. I do not use EmuVT much, instead I use FCEU-mm, which runs some ROMs that are not supported by EmuVT due to mappers. The Nanjing games are very typical in these clones, apart from the sound engine, it is by the style of music.I have not played Somari in a real Famicom, as you know I never had one, nor did I really know one.Post 7I know a dance mat, but I never used it, and I do not remember the songs I had. As for consoles and Chinese stuff, I have not seen too many reviews because they are in English, and I'm not good at understanding too much. Fortunately there are many videos of the PolyStation in Spanish for my luck.

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

Never had one, but I did get something similar called the power arcade which was essentially a few hundred Nes bundled into a controller type unit connected to the TV... that was pretty fun times. And for the record, the Famicom and Nes are different... the famicom was actually the Japanese version of the super Nintendo, which I did own. They were the same console, just shaped differently and probably some different internal hardware. Cartrages were different shapes as well.

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

My sister had one, but I didn't know it at the time. It wasn't even a typical famicom, it was a dance mat which just had 2 sets of drawn arrows on it that I guess represented a dPad. It had the dancing game obviously, with I think only 2 or 3 songs, plus what I think was a pinball mini-game. It was pretty cheaply made as I recall our parents complaining about picking up interference on the TV in the other room when it was on. The music was all in the style someone mentioned earlier, with a lot of vibrato and drums on the noise channel that managed to both sound heavy and hollow at the same time. I don't remember all the songs on it, except The ketchup song which was on it for some reason. Finally, it had the typical Chinese multicart menu selection noise on it so I'm pretty sure it was a famiclone in disguise. For anyone that finds this Chinese stuff interesting, definitely check out vine sauce on
YouTube, specifically the channels of Vinnie and Joel. Vinnie in particular streams a lot of these cheep plug n' plays under the "plug n' plague" name, though there are a few older videos before he came up with that name. There's some wonderful stuff there as well. Also, Ashens does a lot of Chinese consoles on his channel too, including a massive pop station watch series that you should look at. He reviewed a PolyStation as well but it was quite different to what you described in post 1.

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

Oh yes, CaH4e3's site has some really rare unlicensed stuff. That's where I actually found the ROM of Master Fighter Vi', an updated version of Hummer's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in my search for the ROM years ago, because I was obsessed with unlicensed ROM collecting, and still am.As for EmuVT, I've tried that one for a while, but I haven't actually tried emulating any Famiclone ROMs on that thing, mainly since I didn't have access to a few of them. There were a few other Famiclones that I know of, but haven't seen in person myself, mainly the ones that had Nanjing's games on them that use their typical sound engine and music with the heavy vibrato on the pulse and triangle channels and heavy percussion on the noise channel. Speaking of their sound engine, fun fact, within some of the Nanjing ROMs, there is leftover code from Double Dragon III, which explains why some of their games use similar sound effects to th
ose of Double Dragon III, and Technos games in general. Looking at the code in the NSFs, there's a bunch of Technos Japan's stuff in there. All Nanjing did was add some things to the driver for it to do something with the music. As for Somari, I have played that game before at a cousin's house on a real Famicom, and he had an actual cart, just the cart, not the box, as he bought it at a yard sale. He wouldn't learn later that it was an unlicensed game until he found out years later. Oddly enough, on Nintendo's NES Classic Edition plug-n-play system, if you mod it to be able to add more games to it (since the device is based on Linux), you can actually add Somari on there and it will play with the built-in emulator on the device. But the percussion will sound different, mainly because Nintendo didn't implement the noise channel properly.

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

Aah is one of Taizou's web pages. Lol.I never played the Hummer Team games, but Somari is well-known in the universe. I've only played the games developed by those companies mentioned above. The graphics in the DreamGear console does not emulate the graphics correctly, so an emulator called EmuVT, which aims to emulate VT02, VT03, OneBus, among others chips, correctly displays the graphics of those ROMs. According to I read it was developed by one of the programmers of JungleTac (I do not know if it is true).By the way... I can not believe they still have these cartridges on sale! That is incredibly strange. Many ROMs of these cartridges can be found and downloaded on the CaH4e3's website. The FamiDump project started more than 10 years ago and still continues! And another thing I've heard, is that a Famiclone (like Arcade Action II) can play real Famicom games; I think it's confirmed.Another of the cartridges / Famiclone I
would like to have known are the Famicom Yarou, which strikes me some games. The modification of the music is strange and funny for my taste. Most likely CaH4e3 dumping other multicarts in the future. This amazingly does not end here!

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

I've heard of the Dream Gear stuff myself, since while I didn't have one, I knew a few guys who did. I did play a few Waixing games on some Famiclones as well, which are games that I love oh so very dearly. In case you're wondering, that was sarcasm. Can you believe they still have their entire Famicom library available for sale? Who wants to volunteer and buy all of their carts? I won't, but the only thing I would buy them is to dump the ROM and make an NSF out of them, which I have a collection of a ton of NSF files from their games which I got from an NSF archive maintained by MrNorbert1994.Another company's games I played on Famiclones were Hummer Team's games. One Famiclone I played was one called the Samuri. Think of it as a cross between a Samurai and a Somari, lol. Anyway, jokes aside, it had a total of 60 minigames selectable from the main menu. What makes this one different is the chip that the console used. It was VT03 based, mea
ning that it had an enhanced color palette. The minigames were of different genres as well. The music on this plug n Play system was recycled from different games from Hummer, but I believe new songs were composed and remixed for this multicart, since my Hummer NSF collection (also from MrNorbert1994) doesn't seem to have the songs featured in that multicart. You can read about this unit here:http://fuji.drillspirits.net/samuri/

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

That is true, the sound chip of the Famiclones were modified, because there are dumps of those ROMs and in the emulator sounds good. You can check in one of the videos above. I did not have any Power & Play, but I've heard of it. In addition, 2 DreamGear consoles were dumped to play those games (DreamGear 75 in 1 and DreamGear 101 in 1).I still keep my DreamGear 121 in 1, and it is in perfect condition. Sadly I do not know what happened to the PolyStation, I and my brother used it; I do not remember so much his physical form because at that time I was like 4 or 5 years. But I do remember the joysticks, the NES zapper (which was the gun to play Duck Hunt). Also what I remember is that the games sound strange due to the cloned sound chip of the 2A03 (in the PolyStation the 50% pulse is the 25% pulse in the original NES, and the 25% pulse in the PolyStation is the 50% in the original NES). Perfectly in any video review of this console can be noticed. No
t only in the PolyStation that happened, but in almost all Famiclones. And the other Plug 'N Play in the form of a joystick I do not know what happened to it, but I had almost pure Waixing games.

Re: Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

Hi. I had a Famiclone as a kid, and I played the heck out of it, since I am partially sighted, sadly it caught on fire years later, literally. Of course, six year old me at the time versus nineteen year old me now didn't know about anything Famicom related. The unit was called the Power Player Super Joy 3. It had two controllers and a light gun for shooters. The two controllers were shaped like a Nintendo 64 controller and a Sega Genesis pad. It could also accept regular Famicom carts since it had a slot for those. The N64 controller was the main attraction here. It had a built in multicart that claims to have 76000 games with 1000 ways of playing them, but it only had 76 games with repeats. It had mostly pirated versions of official games like Contra and Super Mario Bros. There were only two unlicensed games on there, those being Tetris by Tengen and Magic Jewelry by Hwang Shinwei, which was a clone of Columns. It had an issue that plagued most Famiclones and NES on a
chip devices where it swaps the 25 and 50 percent duty settings on the pulse channels, 75 percent was unaffected. Call me crazy but I'm in the minority and actually like music and SFX that way for some games, which is why I use NSFPlay to listen to my NSF files, not just for its accurate emulation.

Has anyone known or had a clone of the Famicom / NES console?

Hi,Today I come with a somewhat strange question. Have any of you had a Famicom clone or have any family members had one?The clones of Famicom (or also called Famiclones) as the word says, are clones of the NES; Many of the cartridges that came with it were bootleg. Some games were made in Russia, while others were developed by Chinese companies such as Waixing, Nanjing, JungleTac, et.The songs of the games were quite cheap or incomplete, and many did not like it.The best known were the multicarts that came with the console, such as 999 in 1, 1000 in 1, 120 in 1, etc.I had a PS 1 clone called PolyStation, which came with a cartridge called "999 in 1 KD-6037-B".Here is the video of that multicart.Another one I had was one called DreamGear. There were several versions of that clone, some were handhelds, while others were Plug 'N Play.
There is the DreamGear 15 in 1, 50 in 1, 121 in 1, etc.The DreamGear did not need cartridges to operate, only batteries, and in the case of Plug 'N Play only a cable was required to connect it to the TV.The games of the first models of DreamGear were developed by JungleTac and the later versions the games were developed by Waixing or Nice Code Software.I had the DreamGear 121 in 1, and the DreamGear (I'm not sure, but I think it was 50 in 1) that is a flyer that connects to the TV, and of course uses AA batteries. Here is the video of a gameplay of the DreamGear 50 in 1, part 1, part 2 and part 3And finally I had a joystick class that is a Plug 'N Play that connects to the TV, and has games developed by Waixing and Nice Code, uses 3 AA batt
eries.I'm not sure the name of the joystick, but I think it's called Game Stick or Play Stick.I did not find a video of that joystick, but I found another one that has the same games. Here is the Waixing 120 in 1 multicart videoThat was it. I hope someone has had these things.
