SSd's can run tuns of data with out breaking down, so I don't accept the point of saving write cycles.

@11If the pagefile isn't needed, Windows isn't using it whether it's enabled or not. You're getting away with it because at 8 gigs you don't usually run out of memory, not because there is some magical thing about 8

@7It's probably unused unless you run out of memory, but whether Windows actually does or not isn't well-defined because information on the memory allocator is almost impossible to find. It will try not to because SSDs are an issue

Hi Marco.I would not advise you, to change your paging file to a external drive. here is why.windows performance will actively slow down because the speed of your external is slower.

Even without unplugging the drive and assuming that the drive is 100% reliable, are you 100% sure that the drive's USB drivers don't use the pagefile, and do you really want to find out what might happen if they do, and they'

Yeah I really wouldn't suggest doing this man, even with an external SSD you could always lose your USB connection by accident.

What you're doing wrong is trying to do this in the first place. That's not safe, and if you succeed it is liable to crash all of Windows but will at best massively degrade the performance of your machine.
