Hi everyone,Defender, that is actually a fantastic idea!I was not sure if I wanted to introduce accounts to it, because I'm planning, eventually, to make a platform which this would get folded into in the long term.But I may simply do that, and fold the account system in likewise later on down the line.Anyway, it would be quite easy to open it up by introducing an operating system column.I admit, I kind of agree with VipMud as a 4.5, but was just using it as an example.I definitely think I'll go with an account system, allowing for user reviews and such, and thus opening the field up to recruit some moderation before it opens, so that I don't have to manage it independantly. I was actually gonna say the same thing Ironcross was, I'd call that 4/4.5 out of 5.I think this is a really good idea, the only thing is that staying on top of it as software gets added and updated will be an ongoing time sync, and it would be ideal if you got at least a couple other people to help you out who use different primary screen readers or Windows version than you do so that you can get more opinions in your final rating. Hello all,So as you know, this wonderful website has the audio games database, which now has expanded to include muds, text games, and gamebooks.We also have the audio games archive, and the people over their doing their upmost to maintain lost games, for which I have nothing but the greatest respect. good job to both of them.One thing that both these lack, and something that has been mentioned on this very forum in fact, is neither support software.Understandable enough, obviously. Audio Games.net, well, the clew is in the title.So would the blind community be interested in a, for lack of a better word, software database?I know the wonderful people over on applevis have done something for IOS, and, I think at least, MAC.Based on this we would be looking primarily therefore at windows software, but should there be a great need, I'm happy to expand that to include other systems.The idea for the software database would be thus:1. A database of software that would include the name, an accessibility rating out of 5, a description, and a download link, along with tags. Here is an example, though this would be rendered in fancy shmancy html:Software name: VipMudVersion: 2.0Accessibility rating: 5/5.Price: $30Description: vipMud is a Multi-user Dungeon client, used for playing the text-based online games known as MUDs. VipMud supports various features including triggers, aliases, mxp, ansi and more. Now I realise the description is a little thrown together, but I hope that gives you a rough idea.Based on opinion, and on what you guys feed back to me in this topic, I would be willing to intigrate an account system to allow for reviews, user ratings, download statistics, and more.the database would rely on user submissions, as while I know some software, my own included, I am in no way an expert. Submissions would be moderated however, and only go up after they were approved.The database would include a search feature to allow you to search by keyword of the name, keyword of the description, or by tag.If this has already been done before, please let me know, and I shall abandon the idea completely!I realise that by laying out my plans in a topic like this, someone else could just be like hey!
