Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Ah, found the reply containing the tweak. Don't know how I missed it earlier. The cursor likes to change focus and is very distracting. I'll give this a shot.I also performed the steps @9 mentioned, but I'm not seeing an HD driver, just Realtech. I'm familiar with this process, but not sure why it's not showing up on my list.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

No, that does not happen if you do it via the update driver button, which essentially tells it that this one is more up to date. It might when a newer driver update comes out, but considering they don't  come out that often it's not so hard to do it every once in a while, and it is certainly a lot safer than turning off Windows update.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

@9: That only works until Windows thinks it knows better than you, and decides to reinstall the Realtek driver for you. The only way that doesn't happen is if you turn off windows Update.@8: What @10 said.

@leibylucw: There is a registry tweak in the thread, read it all the way through and you should see the tweak listed to remove the latency.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Ok, detailed info on how to switch the driver properly without Windows asking you to update it follows: My guess is that you selected the wrong category so are seeing the Intel audio thing. Press In the start menu, search for device manager and open it. Here, don't  expand the first category which is audio inputs and outputs, but instead continue scrolling until you reach Sound, video and game controllers. If you expand this, you should see Realtek Audio. Press enter to open it's properties. Switch to the drivers tab, and tab until you reach Update driver. Now, choose Browse my computer for drivers. Once that opens, choose Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer. Once the list opens, you should see High Definition Audio Device. Select it and press next, then follow the prompts. It should ask for a restart and then you should be using the high definition audio driver without it automatically updating back. If you ever want to switch back, the instructions are the same, except of course you don't choose the high definition driver but the realtek audio one.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

@4, I'm not seeing anything under that thread about a registry tweak.I looked at my devices, and I'm only showing Intel(R) Audio with no option to switch to the high-definition audio.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Yeah, that is the Microsoft driver I was talking about. On some laptops this is indeed the case, but on mine it sounds a lot worse, and isn't even an option if you use stereo mix since for that you need the original drivers.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Change your driver to high definition. Will solve the problem and you'll get a better sounding laptop.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Or get the Silenzio app by Kissoft, which does the same thing as this new Jaws feature and runs quietly in the system tray, independent of the screen reader. You can find it and try at http://www.stefankiss.sk/programy/silen … _setup.exehowever, the reason I did not recommend it is because with my Maxx audio drivers, this actually did not solve the problem. Hopefully it  will in your case.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

That's a Realtek issue, not a MaxAudio issue. Trust me, I wish it was MaxAudio but I ruled that out by way of the uninstaller ages ago. New Realtek audio drivers have started doing this thing--it's a reason for one of the new features in the latest JAWS 2020 version. If you don't have JAWS, or that version, or don't trust that new feature, give this thread a read. The registry tweak in here solved it for me.

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Ugh. Not the answer I wanted to hear, but that gives me a better sense of direction. I'll try to have Aira hop on through TeamViewer and see if anything can be done. It sounds great through the on-board speakers, but it's only when headphones are plugged in I'm having issues. Thanks for the help!

Re: Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

Oh, that's interesting. I didn't have that particular issue with Max audio pro. That is, I had it once when I updated to Windows 10 version 2004. What you have to do is update the audio drivers by downloading them manually from Dell's site for your particular model, that solved it for me. If not, Max audio is almost completely inaccessible except the microphone settings, so you will need sighted help to check if something can be disabled or revert to Microsoft's drivers if they aren't too horrible on your machine like they are on mine.

Max Audio Pro issue (surprise)

I'm having an issue with Max Audio Pro on my Dell, no surprise. When I plug my headphones in, it's behaving as it normally does where it tries to enhance the audio. I disable audio enhancements in Control Panel, but the first split second of sudden audio output is cut off, similar to the bluetooth issue. Is there a fix for this?
