Yeah freesound will probably be your best bet then for variety alone if your trying to keep it free, otherwise try out soundpacks from indi sites using the third party marketplaces I mentioned. And remember to check out the adobe audition DLC linked in the dev room list, they have a vehicles pack that should have at least some of what you want.

Re: Need help finding sounds for a game in the designing stage

Yeah, ZapSplat is indeed good. I've grabbed some dry step sounds I plan to use for another game and perhaps part of this one. What I'm looking for not even ZS has. I'm looking for internal truck sounds. Sounds from a perspective inside a truck as opposed to the outside perspective... trucks driving away, an idol engine on the side of the road, etc that I've been finding. Thanks for the recommendation though. I'll probably get that ZS subscription.

Re: Need help finding sounds for a game in the designing stage

The nice thing with zap splat is that the sounds are free, but for a small monthly fee of like $4.00 or so, you get download unlimited files in a row. The sounds there are good...I've grabbed some stuff for the Blossom game I keep having false starts with. Which reminds me, if anyone's interested in helping with design, once I get my act together...

Re: Need help finding sounds for a game in the designing stage

There is a huge list of free resources for sound and music in a stickied post at the top of the dev room.If freesound, itch.io, or opengameart don't have it, adobe Audition's Vehicles pack might, from there you can check sites like zapsplat, soundeffectsplus/soundgator, freesfx ETC.Links to all of those are in that post, just get creative with your search terms and use the tagging, pack, and user page options for the sites that have them and you should be good. But yeah, if your willing to go paid, than places like sounddogs, as Crashmaster mentioned, along with asoundeffect and sonniss are solid bets.  Audio Jungle and audioblocks are also options, but I don't know as much about those my self.

Re: Need help finding sounds for a game in the designing stage

Hi orin.Your first stop should be sound dogs and sound ideas, I have a few free sounds from the gdc bundle and a few from other places, some of these could be usefull, but some of these I have gotten off of people that I can no longer get them from, some are from sound libraries, some from data dumps, some are unknown in licence and source.I've basically shoved a load of stuff together, due to policies on here and because I am unsure about some status of this stuff I will email you the file off forum using your forum email address just in case. Its a large file, if you want to have more sounds of various things and testers and assistance in this early stage, I'd be happy to join in the design even if it was only for the hell of it.I have no summer jobs, and I may have a few days of little to do, and at any rate I havn't been in a design project for a few years.I'd like to be part of another.Expect an email from me in short order.Tell me if you need anything else.

Need help finding sounds for a game in the designing stage

Hi all,It's no secret that, while we have... an okay flight sim, an okay train sim that gets a bit dull after a while because of it being set in one area...we don't have a good trucking sim. One in which you can actually drive a truck and the sounds will rotate with you as you move. Kitchen's trucker is a good time waster, but typing a speed when prompted and answering yes/no questions is not my idea of trucking. I want to do this right. If I can't make an accurate audio simulation, I at least want to make a game where there is real time driving involved.Thing is, Kitchen's trucker sounds suck. Even if I just use one truck for the whole game as he did, the engine for it is highly unrealistic. Does anybody know of a good internal truck sound or sounds that are free to use in a game project? I don't mind paying for sounds.Thanks.
