Re: Piano Lessons Questions Casio has a bunch of cheap keyboards and so does Yamaha; the psr models generally come to mind. The differences are debatable between these two brands, but as you're just starting out you need not focus on features or extra bells and whistles.As to playing, as has previously been pointed out here, unless you get a keyboard or digital piano with fully weighted keys for the exercise, playing a grand, upright or any other acoustic piano will be something of a pain in that regard, but not impossible. Another matter that you will also need to take into consideration is that your starter keyboard will more than likely only contain 61 keys vs the 88 key configuration found on pianos. The beauty is that if you do manage to pick up the keyboard with relative ease this shouldn't be an issue whatsoever. Playing a piano is not quite like playing any stringed instrument in that, you only get one key per note and it will always stay that way unlesss you t ranspose your keyboard or have your piano tuned for whatever reason best known to you. This may take some getting used to, and I have yet to see someone who started off on guitar make the transition without some problems, but that fact alone should not dishearten you nor stop you from trying. Piano Lessons Questions Hi everyone!I've been thinking about taking piano lessons. I'm good on stringed instruments so I thought I'd try my hand at piano. I have some questions. First what is a good quality but affordable keyboard? I don't have room for a piano in my house so I thought I'd learn with an electric keyboard. Also to any of you on here who play piano I'm wondering how do you keep track of notes? For me with a guitar it's easy but I have no experience doing this while playing a piano. Also if I learn on an electric keyboard can I transfer those skills to be able to play a regular piano?Thanks.
