It's not just the footstep function, the entire pathfinder is broken.Update: Scratch that, I had to change the base game folder to crystal-clear, I guess it didn't recognize the new version as the right game. Pathfinder is fine.

Hey guys, pokemon brown can be supported: if the game isn't supported, follow me.Close the script with the escape key, now press chift+H. It will ask for the base game here enter red_blue (and en if it asks you for the apropriate language). Reload the script and boom!

So I have to ask, has anybody managed to get any of these games linked up to, or get surf on Pikachu with stadium?  just wondering if it's possible at all.   Getting back into stadium at the moment, and it's interesting trying to figure out which pokemon you've got selected as most of it is seemingly done with the c buttons.  Experimenting is a lot of fun though.

Perfect crystal is a romhack, which means that yes, you'll have to patch it. Thankfully, it's stupidly easy. It's damn near identical to the original but for some upgrades.You can carry far more items in generations after the first one. You will still have limits, but it's harder to reach those limits. For instance, TMs and HMs go into a separate pocket, as do key items.

Hi,I believe I put some info about it a few posts back, but essentially it makes it so that you can catch all 251 pokemon including Celebi, as well as fixes a load of glitches and the like.   No new maps or anything, which is why it appears to work flawlessly.  The same thing is true with perfect red/blue.  there might be a few other changes like buyable tms and evolutionary stones as well.

Hi all,So I've tried this script with pokemon perfect crystal and it works perfectly.  The great thing about this hack in particular is that the game is the same, apart from giving you access to all pokemon so you don't have to gameshark the trade evolutions or anything silly like that.  It also fixes glitches and the like and let's you get Celebi.There is also one called perfect blue/red, however that doesn't work straight away.  I'm pretty sure nothing majorly changes in this one either, you just won't get movement sounds.  Would be great if these could be supported by default, mainly because these actually give the full experience of playing each generation.Obviously down the line it would be great to have hacks like anniversary crystal work on their own, but I know hacks like these have different maps and such so might take more work.Update on perfect blue/red, and for anybody who feels like they need footstep sounds to keep track of if they are in grass or not.  You don't thanks to the camera.  This hack clearly doesn't change the maps as the camera works perfectly.  Now I can dance around in grass knowingly when I need to grind to my heart's content.  Just look up pokemon perfect red/blue and perfect crystal if you're interested in either of these.  Note though as I said before, perfect crystal works with the scripts by default.

Hi all,So I've tried this script with pokemon perfect crystal and it works perfectly.  The great thing about this hack in particular is that the game is the same, apart from giving you access to all pokemon so you don't have to gameshark the trade evolutions or anything silly like that.  It also fixes glitches and the like and let's you get Celebi.There is also one called perfect blue/red, however that doesn't work straight away.  I'm pretty sure nothing majorly changes in this one either, you just won't get movement sounds.  Would be great if these could be supported by default, mainly because these actually give the full experience of playing each generation.Obviously down the line it would be great to have hacks like anniversary crystal work on their own, but I know hacks like these have different maps and such so might take more work.

In gen 1 you actually have to know where water or other things are, go up to them, then go into your pokemon menu and access the pokemon with the right move. It's read out and all, but it's a lot longer. Gen 2 and onward fixed this problem.The game is still perfectly playable, since in a lot of cases the pathfinder will be able to tell you that there's something in the way. It's good with stuff like that.

So i just beat the electric gym. I have started noticing some problems with gen 1 games. Firstly, the item limit is very low and all items are stored in the same pocket which makes no sense. Secondly, the items you can carry are 20, which is tricky to manage when you carry regular items, key items, tms and hms in the same pocket. Lastly, why do i have to go into my pokemon menu and select a hm move each time i have to use one? That is really annonying.

Yeah, just keep at it. For future reference though, looking up walkthroughs of these games on GameFAQs or something would do you a world of good. They're mainstream games, and the walkthroughs for them are surprisingly good. They're also more than twenty years old, so it's not like they're new and incomplete and nobody really knows what's going on. These games have literally been taken apart and redesigned by certain people; I don't think there is anything about these first generations that isn't widely known.

Ugh, no. You do not need Flash. Flash is, at this point in time, 100% useless to us.And as for what you teach Cut to? It doesn't matter. Cut is a bad move, so stick it on something that's going to be on your team but which can spare the moveslot. You...really don't need three grass types on your team though, just sayin'.Route 11 is also blocked by Snorlax, so it's possible that the item finder is beyond Snorlax, which means come back later.

Play through the game further. The short answer is that if you haven't gotten to the S.S. Anne yet, you're not equipped to get any of that stuff, except -maybe the item finder. The route between Veridian and Pewter is interesting, because once you have the HM for Cut, you can bypass the forest entirely; the reason you can't find those items is because you can't cut yet, which means you can't get to that side part of the route. As far as the item finder, it's in a house on route 11 I believe; one of Prof Oak's aides will give it to you once you've caught 30 or more pokemon.

Uh, you do know that if you ask for help with a rom hack, and that rom hack changes things around, the likelihood that a blind person is going to be able to steer you right is...pretty low, right? Would be kind of like me coming into this thread and asking, "How do I beat the Sky Pillar in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire?", but worse because at least with alpha sapphire I could go look up a text walkthrough, but for sinnoh gold or whatever, those walkthroughs are far fewer and farther between.

You're talking about challenge cup, not prime cup. Challenge Cup was the trickiest, since before entering the first battle there was no easy way to tell which pokemon had which moves, so you'd kind of end up hitting buttons and hoping you won the first fight. The good news is that the enemy teams are likewise random, and they're never world-class sets. For instance, in round 2 when I beat challenge cup, the last trainer had an Espeon with PsyBeam, Zap Cannon, Bite and Sand Attack. I mean, not awful or anything, but perfectly doable. I wrecked it with Houndoom, which had Crunch, Flamethrower, Rock Smash and Sunny Day.

wow the memories! Little cup was hard on stadium two but I hated prime cup sense the pokemon and their move sets were randomized. So say you gat a charzard or something each time you played that cup it could have different moves. Actually i can't remember if you could get charzard but I think so. I successfully use a emulated version of the transfer pack with the project 64 but can't remember how. I will tell you though that one of the hiccups I found was that when you, say, play pokemon crystal and then go to stadium you had to i think put the battery file in the folder with stadium two rom i think. It then had to be replaced each time you wanted to play stadium two with a new set of pokemon you wanted to try out. This makes more sense if you have tried but basically i mean you can't simply run crystal again, change out your party, save, and then simply reload stadium. You have to copy the battery file in the gameboy folder and replace it in the stadium folder, again its been a while so maybe some things have changed.

Hello everyone,I have only played Roaming Red and Red DX so far but encountered the same things in both of them, so I figured I may ask if someone encountered the same problems in regular Red and Blue.In maps such as Mt. Moon, Rock Tunnel or Safari Zone, do you encounter a bug with the path finder which tells you to take a certain path you technically can't, and you have to find another one? For example telling you "3 down" but you can't go down anymore and that's not due to boulder/bush/water?Did you also encounter the bug at 2nd floor in Pokemon Mention, the one where there is a hole and the path finder finds cliff that are very unlikely to be on the map, and as such crashes when using P?

Gotta confess that its really fum using the rental charizard and that broken fire spin in the original stadium.. I also use project 64 and its accessible, with the arrows and buttons being tied to the home row and the row above by default. Someone have me instructions on transferring pokemon from gsc to stadium 2, but I forgot it. Its doable though.

I did both, but I generally used stuff I hand-raised. Rentals aren't bad, but hand-raised are better in pretty much every way.Also, the Stadium games are playable without sighted help. They are not 100% accessible (trial and error, and memorization will be necessary), but they're way, way more playable than general pokemon games are.

I owned and completed both pokemon stadium games on the N64 back in the day. I didn't care about the minigames, but as far as all the battles? Yup, completed both round 1 and round 2, including the special battles at the end. In stadium 2 in particular, there are some pretty good teams you've got to overcome, especially in little cup round 2. Seriously. Curse+Quick Attack on a level 5 Doduo can hurt like hell. Also? If you try and kill a Slowpoke with an electric type, it will often survive the hit, heal with a gold berry or berry juice, then OHKO back with Earthquake. Definitely a worthy challenge. I loved the second game in particular (the first had weird gen 1 logic still, though a lot of glitches were fixed for stadium 1) so this was nice to see.

I actually did pretty well in gen II competitive, which is where a lot of my Manamon criticism comes from. I was never quite top tier, but I had theme teams and serious teams that I used to have great fun with.

Check out mainstream walkthroughs of the game. That's what I did, and it worked. Jdude84's walkthrough is good, but take note that he'll say it's on the fourth floor, and it's not.Hidden Power's type and power are set by your DVs, not your actual stats. I don't know all the math, though I used to. What it means is that if you get a pokemon and test its hidden power, it will always, always, always have that hidden power unless you 1. get a new one in the wile or 2. breed it. If you pump it full of vitamins, nothing will change. If you get stat experience by fighting tons of Tentacool, nothing will change. It's set as soon as the pokemon is generated. There are tons of resources to determine how hidden power works. I believe even Donald's Crystal walkthrough covers this, though I could be wrong.

I don't know much about IVs or DVs, but I do know that hidden power can be changed to anything based on stats. Their was a Pokemon Crystal walkthrough I was wattching, and someone wanted a Pinecoe with a bug move and a steel move. He said that the only way to get a bug move was to put it in the daycare man's house with a Beedrill that knew Pin Missile, which he did. Then to get a steel move, he needed to hatch a Pinecoe out of the egg with 13 defense so it could learn Hidden Power as a steel type. I have no idea how that works, but again that's probably because I need to learn about Pokemon. I am starting to understand more, though, so that's good. I think Hidden Power is actually a Psychhic type move, maybe it changes depending on how your stats are. For example, 13 defense turns it into a steel type and maybe a certain number of physical attack changes Hidden Power to be physical instead of special.

Just to be clear here: Hidden Power was introduced in generation II. Generation II had DVs to determine stat potential instead of IVs, and thus, Hidden Power's type and power was based on DVs.A previous poster made it sound like it has always been based on IVs, and so it sort of defaulted to something sloppy when it was first implemented. This isn't accurate. When they switched the internal mechanics in gen 3, they screwed with Hidden Power as well. It was updated to the new way of dealing with stats. Why they needed to change this at all is anybody's guess.So Unown still sucks. Even with a 70-power hidden power psychic for STAB, it gets no other moves, and even something like Abra with PsyBeam outdamages it. Hell, Abra with Confusion might even do it. And Abra can get other moves, and, y'know, can kind of evolve too, so there's that. The only use Unown has is for the Unown dex, which for me personally is a complete and utter waste of time.Best use of Hidden Power I ever got was when I ended up with HP grass on a Jolteon. I think it was around 65 power or so, because it could one-shot a Rhydon. Also had HP Bug on a Marowac one time, though that took forever. Swords Dance, HP Bug, Earthquake, Rock Slide with a Thick Club attached. Seriously, pass this thing a single Agility and it can one-shot almost any pokemon. Grass types die to HP Bug. Water types mostly can't take Earthquake. Rock Slide for everything else. It's not perfect, but with an agility+BP setup (Girafarig is good for this, but so is Scyther/Scizor) it's almost impossible to stop. Two turns, and it's GG.

Well, Red++ isn't really supported, but if one is searching for something a bit similar though with slightly less modern mechanics, most notably no physical/special split, I would advise checking out Red and Blue Dx. Beware, as I'm not certain it would be perfect in all places, like Roaming Red regarding Mt. Moon and Pokemon Mention for example. But so far it seems fine, just no footsteps. But as said numerous times already, they aren't that important.
