Re: Rocket simulation game

@8 I never said games without sound are bad. Core exiles or tau station are perfect examples of this. All I’m saying is that eutopian’s potential playerbase would be higher if the sim was done in audio.

Re: Rocket simulation game

Hi,Tubesim  is an excellent example of a game that pulls this off well. I think the point that I'm trying to make here is that whilst audio is great, it shouldn't be a requirement for a good game, and be the end all of everything.Definitely see where you're coming from though.Another idea that I had for getting information is through the use of hotkeys and spoken feedback, whether through sapi or direct screenreader output, that way information could be obtained much quicker.Cheers,Daniel

Re: Rocket simulation game

@6 I fail to understand why the use of full audio in a game automatically takes away from the realism factor. Tubesim is a tube train simulator game, and it pulls it off very well. Btw, tubesim is an audio only game. I mean, think about it! If audio was implemented into this rocket sim, you could get your daily doce of hearing tests as your rocket, cobbled together from toothpicks, ducktape, and a cow with a bad case of gas flings itself into orbit, burning cow propelled rocket stages... only for the cockpit to catch fire so the whole assembly explodes in the stratosphere, your crew of happless astronauts screaming for rescue all the while. Muhahahahahahahahahahahahha!

Re: Rocket simulation game

Hi,Personally, I think that text/buttons in a game like this is key. You could have an audio-only rocket sim, but the realism is diminished as a result if you ask me.I think that the best way to express information is by the use of tables myself.Cheers,Daniel

I could try c++ but I don't know how to make it without using a lot of text or buttons

Re: Rocket simulation game

A rocket sim like ksp would be great, and something I personally would really like to play. There's only one problem. Browser games are kind of a nitch platform, even among audio gamers. People just prefer audio games with interactive controls and sounds than a browser based game with buttons, links and lots of text. This is for various reasons, some people don't like browser games because they don't have any sounds, some just prefer the faster paced audio method of play, still others just aren't that good with screen reader navigation to quickly and efficiently navigate a game web page. While I know you would definitely get players, you wouldn't get the large interest you'd get from a pure audio game.

Rocket simulation game

As I have posted elsewhere, I am developing a Browser based  rocket simulation game similar to KSP.Players will be able to design and launch rockets, land on other planets and the moon and more, with realistic rocket science and orbital mechanics.I am however uncertain as to how much detail to implement and how to convey necessary information to the player such as position and velocity of the rocket, the shape and dimensions of the rocket and various other details. How much detail would you want in a game such as this? Also how much of a proper game would you want this to be compared to a tool / pure rocket designer and simulator?
