I like mead generally (as does my lady), plus mead is appropriate for a wedding sinse apparently the term "Honey moon" comes from the fact that back in yee middle ages, the bride and groom would spend a month after the mariage drinking mead which was supposed to help with, , well the hole legacy business . I'm usually a spirits or coctales sort of chap (I love a decent wisky or a rum with my coffee), but I've certainly got nothing against a good wine, and my lady is a keen wine drinker providing it's a sweet wine, neither of us is into beer I'm afraid. So, some home brewed vino would be loverly. The only issue is when, sinse right now we don't actually know when the big day is owing to large amounts of shenanigans with British immigration. We'll probably both need to go back to the states and presume on my lady's very kind sister for a few weeks while we submit the forms sinse they need to be submitted from outside the country, which will likely be later this year in the spring. So, if you wouldn't mind a reservation on some sweet wine of some sort, perhaps we could have some then? That would be great and I know my lady would be pleased as well. Unfortunately right now I'm trying to distract myself with six dragons until she arrives, which she's doing on Saturday, but really this week is going so slowly it's unbelievable! Having recently left everything behind and getting married myself I can honestly say that part of the process is what you don't know and what you truly believe in and trust. it's called commitment, which is something many people don't like doing, which is to say, marriage and relationships in general are not for everyone.Someone once told me that if you truly want to test the waters with a person you should take a trip out into the middle of nowhere with said person for three days and see how the two of you get along, withdraw from each other for two weeks and repeat the process. Can you stand each other for that long? Will you miss each other when it's over? Will you be ready ot do it again?But I believe it goes further than that, and while this is good for initial impressions and figuring out just how much two people mean to one another, I'd like to suggest that love is as much an action as it is a reaction, just as being thankful is sometimes a choice more than it is a feeling. Sometimes we get gifts and don't exactly feel thankful for them because our expectations are a little higher and we are disappointed when they aren't met. I have found, however, that generally speaking, when one chooses to be thankful regardless of feeling, the feelings will change to reflect the action.And so it is similarly my belief that love in many senses works the same way. I've stated before that I believe happiness is a fickle thing that has a way of deceiving the human mind with its unpredictable nature. Euphoria fades with time, and sometimes there is nothing to blame for that. People change; thoughts are reassessed and discoveries are made that alter one's behavior if only slightly. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say, this is something I never thought would happen, and it's better than I could've dreamed. The irony is, my lady says the same of me for some reason I've not been able to determine. As to living arrangements, she'd like to live in Britain, but there are various annoying legal shenanigans involved first, still we'll see. I'd be willing to live in America, or north Korea, or the upper reaches of the amazon or the moon! Oh and yes, we have been described as somewhere between beautiful and nauseating. @Nocturnus, I can't actually describe what is between us, but the term "unconditional love" is one I very much now understand. We've not been out in the middle of no where, but have lived togetherfor for several weeks, communicated over long distances for a number of months (through sometimes not easy circumstances), and currently both have colds. The decision to get married was as I said, more an acknolidgement of what we both knew than a proposal of something, indeed the term "soulmate" is one which is pretty accurate. Here in the US if a person receiving SSI, let's say, gets married, they'll more tha likely lose some or all of that. This is even true of health insurance that covers necessary medical treatments. This happens even if the two of them together don't bring in enough to cover the cost of said treatments and/or food and other expenses. Granted my situation isn't that dire but I still can't afford to lose a cent of my SSI, which I would if I were to get married. It's rather taken me by surprise as well, particularly the ring ordering, they're sterling silver and saphire, sinse they looked and felt far nicer than diamonds, and were much less expensive. My lady describes the solitare saphire on hers as a rock! Good if she needs to gie anyone the old one two. Oh and yes, I have a ring as well! I emand! man! bling! (and mine has a diamond chip). We don't know when we're actually doing the deed, probably next year, hopefuly it won't be a Game of thrones wedding. (My lady says perish the thought, no pun intended).
