You know what?  There needs to be no arguing here. Let's square this nice and straight.  Mason, did you have any written legal documents or licensing that made Ultra Power lawfully yours? If you don't have that, technically a court of law wouldn't have to hear your case, and nothing proves it's yours. You "killed" the project yesterday. You gave up development, and since others had the code and you had no legal proof, someone decided to make it their own. Did you not like this end result? Well, that's the same way people feel when you just decide you want to kill a project out of the blue without warning, for reasons of unknown, booting developers and giving them the cold shoulder along the way, and leaving behind a distinct trail of code versions. Unfortunately, when you act like that, stuff like this happens, and since you kicked yourself out of the project and had no legal bindings to it it's unfortunately no longer
  your right to "give permission" to anyone regarding it.  If you didn't get much out of what I just said, leave with these lessons:1.  If you're going to boot out developers and fight with them childishly, do not share your source code with them in the first place.2.  If you do not want your work "stolen", acquire some form of legal documentation stating it is yours and no one else has rights to it.3. If you would like to collaborate with developers on a project, it is best to keep a level head while doing so. I had no entention of posting the source, ivan is trying to overtake me. I told him why don't you just let it die. He says, if you wanna leave the project you can, but I'm still keeping it alive! Honestly, I'm sick of it too. Games are supposed to be fun, to play, and develop. This has turned into a big mess. It wasn't even my choice to release it, at it's current state, ivan just did it because he got a bunch of contact requests and spam that people wanted back ultrapower. My original plan wasn't to do this at all. WHen I did this, my original plan was to heavily modify it beyond recognition, give it a new title, and basically use the current source as a template. I was going o change the stats system. I was going to redo probably about half the game! And, as I stand here now, looking at this bullshit. I'm debating whether I should still do that, or should i just plain kill it forever. But one thing is for sure. I'm not okay with this the w

you do realize this was not what I wanted, at all. i wanted to modify the game to a new one, with a different title, and say I used ultrapower as a codebase. I did not want to release it, nor did I want this shit to happen. So ivan, you're going too far. Do not release the source, idiot. I would say strip it down to not even a game anymore but a backbone for one that's multiplayer, but that just cannot be done, especially with the way it's coded and the time spent on coding that. If you could do a backbone, it would be easier to fresh code the backbone than to strip one. And then there's the fact that, and sorry for this here but, ultrapower has a worse dev than mason. Mason did boot me, but he knew how to code. He knew how stuff works. And if somebody went hey, you should add this, or hey, this is a security hole, he would add/fix it. You want 2 year old fit, ivan? Try yourself. Being like, uh, fuck you, I'm gonna give out the source... It is not an open 
 sourced game, it should not be an open sourced game, and no adding devs to it does not count as open sourcing it. Here's the thing. If you want an open sourced game, try, sb9.6. Now that thing was singleplayer. WHen it's single player, it's much much easier to manage. You just cannot release the client, server, or both of a multiplayer game to the public, it would just be incompatible all over the place if people started modifying it and just... @connor That's exactly the point. Half the time their is no ultra power topic to discuss with. Because again, its with in a few weaks, project gets discontinued for some stupid reason because of people complaining, then 3 days layder project gets restarted each time a new topic is deleted and recreated. What's more is this project has changed devs hands for what feels like 5 to 6 times now, and that's what people are fed up and sick of seeing and why they are just saying to let the game die. Its like a broken repeating record yet it keeps getting replayed over and over again.

I am going to go on a bit of a rant, so, if you find it offensive, please, just press the letter h on your keyboard to skip this post.That said, I honestly think ultrapower has reached its demise. It was fun while it lasted, but really, ever since version 6 and above, things just started spiraling out of control, though slowly.The game was fun while it lasted, though the game switching developers thing is honestly on point.And the thing that worries me, is the fact this has happened quite a lot, over the last month and some change.As an amateur developer, I feel I can say the following. It is necessary to really have a level head and not play childish games with your people that support you. If you do, well, something along the lines of this very topic is the result.Regarding the legal binding issue, allow me to explain this. Legal binding is only there for a good civilian, and non existent for someone with bad intentions AKA sound effects factory on 
 youtube.My point is, don't rely on a license agreement or any agreement of any kind to keep you safe... common knowledge and common sense can keep you safe from this sort of thing believe me I've been there.Seriously though, this project is just screaming and kicking, begging for it to be left alone.Can we please, all of us, just leave it alone, and move on to something better? Here's what I think about the project. I have no problem seeing it continue, as long as the developers don't corrupt the game and stay true to its spirit. I don't mind Mason not developing anymore, as he treated many of his co-developers like crap, which didn't help the game progress. Instead, it gave the impression that he is incompetent and unable to manage his server. We talk about the lack of security on that server and that's not to be underestimated. Only during the last few releases did we see any real progress in that area, encrypting passwords and requiring them to be at least eight characters long. There are a lot f complaints about his management of the game, but that was the most serious.As far as Ultrapower being a side scroller, that doesn't really matter. DMNB 2 was recently updated to a side scrolling format and now looks and feels a lot like Project Alpha. Speaking of DMNB, why do players keep coming back to it? They come back t
 o it because Danny doesn't play these childish games with his players, beta testers, and collaborators. He takes his work very seriously and makes sure his server is as secure as possible. IN short, DMNB has been everything that Ultrapower hasn't been able to be, stable and secure. So, I hope that people can learn from these past experiences and either improve on this game, or simply let it die if that's no longer possible.

I suggest modifying the game and use the code base as a template. That probably will make you look more original than simply stealing source code. Then again, as Steve pointed out,, legally Mason has no copyright to the game, so continuing it is fair game at this point. If you guys want to see it die, then let it die. However, flat out taking it from ultrocity audio if what he says is correct is never ok, regardless of if the intentions are good or not. Believe me things never work out if you attempt to use someone elses work with out permission, i've been on that end and trust me its a road you do not want to go down. Regardless, if what you guys are going for is number of players, then just meerly saying if you don't like it don't play it is dephanatly not the right way to go about doing it, since what your basicly doing is telling said players that their not welcome. That is precycely why people are ticked off at this. And regardless of all of that, its rather difficult to not follow ultra power when the original topic keeps getting cleared and recreated. If you are gonna do it, please for the sake of everyone else, keep it to one topic and don't delete and recreate constantly, so that though's who don't wanna witniss or follow can go about their biznis.

For one, UltraPower is just gonna die. That's it! I' done! I tryed making this a better game for everyone, but it seems like in return I and Colton get nothing but flaming! So, I'm stopping hosting. and second of all, Mason has done worce things on twitter, and both personally to me. One time, he decided that it would be a good idea to go in to my dropbox and download the entire folder. I actually don't have anything against Sam, he just thinks I don't know how to code, because he hasn't talked to me in over a year! ok? Over a year! So, he is kind of lying. Anyway, have fun guys!

Alright, I have held my tongue until post 28 but I need to voice some opinions. Pardon the interjection to your oh so important argument of he-said she-said.While I have a respect for some of you, including Ivan, you're with a good friend of mine, I have limited to no respect for others of you. Colton, our history is very rocky. Sam, ours as well. But that's besides the point. This whole topic has broken into a preschool debate of , "No you're wrong," or, "No, you're wrong," has grown quite tiresome and just barely in the range of my notice. I realize I am coming off as conceited but this has gone on for far too long. The argument you guys are having is just proving the community's point: Only drama and arguing surrounds this game, which is why my position stands: Let the game die. It's driving a wedge into friendships and the community at large. LET IT GO. My rant here is concluded, good day ladies and gentleman.

Agree with 3 and 4 posts. I'm tired to see this developer changing, like wearing and old pair of shoes, and wearing the new, the old and the new. I liked the first version of it, the 3d one. Was pretty kool and I was thinkinc it will have a succes, but now it is an old, side scroller. I like side scrollers in general, but when you put a shooter and a sidescroller, the work don't get soo good in many times. On scrollers, I mostly like the combination of items and rpg. that, I think it is good for a scroller. Don't take my reply a dislike, it is my point of view. The game was short, but kool. I think we maibe swith to something new. Maibe some rpg multyplaiers, that's a game I really will enjoy. I know it is maibe imposible, but when you start, you can do everything. The world of gaming, in my point it is the thing, you are the God. You can create anything, you can destroy anithing. I finish here and... Thanks for reading, this is my long post ever

I really don't know what's so horrible about up. Granted, I don't come on there as much as I used to in its older days but I still like to play for 10 to 15 minutes. I never really noticed any up drama accept the hacking business in april but that was about it, since I never look on the up topic.

Finily someone else says it and not me this time, but i'm gonna add my 2 sence, and i'm gonna try to be as restrained as possible while giving my viewpoint. Ultra power has had its time. Granted it was short, but it had its time. But the jokes over, we've had our fun, we've had our dromma. I am quite honestly sick of this coming up every few months or so, even dmnb v1 when it had its dromma still faught to the end, but that's besides the point. What i'm going to say is this. You had your chance to make everything right. You had your chance to tuff it out and you had your chance to not botch it up. Clearly that has not happened. Clearly this project isn't working out. First its suddenly really grate when everyone's having fun etc. Then, the minute people start voicing complaints, suddenly ultra power is discontinued, we've lost intrest as is so claimed, forever and the source is gone. But suddenly a few weaks or days layder, a new topic 
 gets created here and its back on the board only for the same thing to happen every 5 months. Could we prytty prytty prytty please just let this project die off, and move on to something else?
