Re: What's Your Favourite Text Editors?

It's 2020, why would anyone code in a simple text editor? I ask this seriously, because until I tried VSCode, I was in this mindset of "I've used Notepad2 for ages and I'm great with it".Where it falls down is when you've just subclassed something, and you can't remember where the origianl class resides. Sure, you could look it up using imports or whatever, but with VSCode, you just find the reference to it, and hit F12.I can go on and on as to why VSCode is the best thing ever, but honestly, just spend a week with it and you'll start to agree.

Apart from coding, I don't want to use something that doesn't have spell checking.

That's actually a good point. VsCode is an IDE, although I htink Notepad++ counts as a text edditor, not sure on the specifics, though.

Re: What's Your Favourite Text Editors?

@2 Vs code is not a text editorI always keep coming back to Jarte. It does just what I need it to do and doesn't get in the way. It starts up quickly and because of these things, I find myself using it whenever I need to write more than a paragraph.

Hello again,a bit double-posting, but as I'm checking the Vim accessibility package right now, it seems to be made only for speech dispatcher. Thus I wonder, what Vim version was used on Windows, as GVim didn't seem to be very interested in giving feedback to Nvda.Best regardsRastislav

Hi there,@5: hmm, a bit basic right?Try out Vim. Hate me later. Vim can actually do most likely anything that one could possibly imagine. Supporting about 7 working modes, it is designed for keyboard efficiency and high adjustability.Even though its roots go as far as to eighties years of the previous century, it's still one of the most popular text and code editors.Although I didn't test, it should be accessible on Windows, see:https://github.com/luffah/vim-accessibilityI assume based on:https://a11y-bos.org/annual-events/abou … iscussion/as GVim is not accessible by itself, I've tried that much, I guess the patch mentioned above was the referred way.Best regardsRastislav

Re: What's Your Favourite Text Editors?

I use Jarte or EdSharp, depending on what I'm doing.Speaking of EdSharp, I wonder what happened to that developer, he use to have some pretty useful programs.I use to like his twitter client before twitter changed their API and broke it.EdSharp is available on github, but I don't think it gets regular updates any more, even though it's open source.Converting certain formats to other formats cause the app to crash, but it still does what I use it for just fine.

Re: What's Your Favourite Text Editors?

@6 hit it on the nose, VS feels clunky and odd to me.I usually code in Notepad, but that's probably my insane need to know every tiny bit of my code, down to the indention, and letting something auto complete it for me feels weird for some insane reason. I also found the auto completion of NPP extremely anoying, although I think you could turn that off.Is Notepad2 kind of a middle ground between the two? If so, that might be what I'm looking for.I'll be honest, I've only touched Wordpad because I don't have Microsoft Word and I had to open a Docx file.

Re: What's Your Favourite Text Editors?

I think I have tryed every text editor made for Windows, and I settled on Notepad++. I mainly use it to write Markdown, so I just turn off some of the features that I don't use and go from there. I have used VSCode, and I wasn't a big fan. It feels like I am editing inside a webpage.

@Deathstar, I mean, nothing wrong with Notepad, but just a bit basic for me, and Wordpad doesn't do it for me either.I especially like NP++'s auto-complete, tabbed documents, and plug-in features, and wish they were in more places!

What's Your Favourite Text Editors?

Hi community,As the title says, I'm interested in trying some new text editors. I used Notepad2 mainly for it's re-coding ability, and Notepad++ for programming. That being said, I thin they could be improved some, and I thought I'd look for alternatives, so do post your favourites here!
