Re: Windows 7 pro on school computer randomly deactivated

Hello,I found out why this happened. As strange as it is, they are using Windows 7 pro but with a kms key. A kms key is what's used on the enterprise editions of Windows. These keys require a re-activation every 180 days so it should happen automatically once I go back to school. Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.I will let you know how the kms activation goes. Thanks,Brandon

Re: Windows 7 pro on school computer randomly deactivated

Hi,This has happened to me before. I highly doubt that you could have been hacked, considering that a hacker wouldn't just deactivate your copy of windows. They would go much further than that. The only real way you can fix this is to purchase a new product key and enter it there. Standard software installation should not do this unless the coders of such software were complete idiots and messed with the windows software licensing service, activated their software via that, then accidentally deactivated your copy of windows in the process, which would deactivate all software which relies on your copy of windows being activated.

Re: Windows 7 pro on school computer randomly deactivated

Hello,1. It looks like my school had system restore turned off, so there are no restore points I can restore to, as if I created one now it would be when I was having this problem.2. Would it have been because I installed the Code Factory Eloquence that this would have happened? Thanks,Brandon

Re: Windows 7 pro on school computer randomly deactivated

I think you maybe a victim of hacking. Someone must have removed your product key when your back was turned.
