Greetings all. As I announced previously in the group chat, it was decided to drop the game's storyline and simply go back to it being dmnb, online only with a focus on the stuff dmnb focused on before. Thus, dmnb v3. This update brings a few changes to the table. For 1, it is now possible to here again players opening and closing doors. The next change on our list fixes a bug where the new shuttle's engines wouldn't shift up and down in pitch properly. The weapons as I mentioned before are now server side, which will allow me to easyer implement stuff like skills for pistols and other types of weapons, also weapon accuracy. The sound set's been restored to what dmnb v1 had as well, so basicly this is the dmnb v1 you've all requested, but with the changes of minny games for debris salvaging, we're still retaining the manual pilot system we have now, and their's far fewer server crashes than v1 had. Their's as usual probably some changes I fo

hithat's actually a better idea to get the weapons system on server side. first, we don't have to log out and back in to the game to have those and yeah, i guess it's more easy to implement new ground weapons

Greetings guys. Today's changes. Asteroid mining will be unavailable for a bit as i'm redesigning it into a much better system. However, debris salvaging is coming back with the same minny game as before, and with a twist. Different fields can have different contents, for instance, if you destroy a ship in space you now can retrieve the corpses of those killed abord the ship, which will contain the equipment and weapons they had as well as they're credits. Additionally asteroid mining once reworked will have the same system for mineable materials, which will allow me to develop actual uses for the resources you mine as aposed to you having only the option of just selling. In addition, i've designed for the next client update weapons to be server side in both death match and universe modes. This will allow me to better implement skills for the weapons and accuracy, as well as different weapon types for both modes... rocket launchers, anyone? Anyways, that's

@farhad I already mentioned that the zheading was going away, and it is not being put back because the z coordinate is virtually useless. Shooting a ship is exactly the same thing. You fly close enough to a ship, you aim at it, you fire. Remember you need to be lined up, you can't simply autopilot and then just fire like you could with the old system, all objects don't use a zheading. @cuddley I have to change it if it didn't ask you for a new password. Its supposed to ask you first attempt you log in when the server moved for the new password, this could be the same as your old password. But if that's not the case, then I have to reset it.

Hi all, sorry for not being online much since the updated release, been working on the story after the server move. I wasn't aware until late last night that since I had switched the game back to pickling instead of yaml, I had forgot to switch the ship classes back over which ment that people couldn't buy ships until someone in the group chat alerted me to this, also that when I fixt it I didn't notice for the shuttle that change engine power and change ship heading were missing. Anyways, its all fixt now, its been fixt last night but thought i'd post since I saw some people tried to buy a few ships before I fixt it. Their's also a few more bug fixes, most noteably when locking onto a target, if the game can't find a matching object that your trying to lock onto, you will now be alerted to this. Also if a system was already removed from the systems database and you tried to jump, you should no longer receive an error.

Remember that how slow you are able to steer towards a beacon is baste on your skill, fast skills means you will have no problems. Also, since people seem to be getting confused about this. The hole objective of the fusion jump minny game is to pass a sirten number of beacons, the number you have to aline with depends on your distance. If your in fusion space, what you'll want to do is hold the aero in the direction the beacon is coming from. When it vanishes or jumps to a new position, this means that you have past that beacon and are now moving onto the next one. Keep realining and following the beacons until you exit fusion space, which remember, like I said before, is baste on the distance you need to travel. That's why shorter jumps come in very handy here.

hello. i just got a teamtalk server running and I have gaming channels there. address: vlad-c-productions.netports: 10333no user or password required. there you go under the gaming channel and select dmpa and you should be good to goi would give you a direct link, but it looks like the bb code doesn't support the tt links.

Hi, I'm playing the updated offline story mode and I got to the part where I need to use the tractor beam to move some gas lines into place I think. But, It is making a beeping sound and I can find the point where it gets loudest where I seem to be right by it. but, I don't know what to do next. The Dark matter rock I was supposed to move at the beginning of the tractor beam use worked, and the first gas line, I think. But, as for the rest of them, I am confused. Also, when you press escape while the tractor beam is running, and you go to quit and activate it, the beam still plays in the main menu. Greetings all. You can now scan what heading an object is at, followed by what interception heading you need to use if you want to intercept it. It should properly work too, since I used the same system as I did for the viewer. Also in addition, status now shows your current heading. I fixt enemy ship generation so that the pirate ships will now spawn on completion of your fusion jump into an uncharted system, so its advisable to have shields on when facing them. I forgot to post this earlyer but the rail gun of the corvette now fires much slower, but carrys 40 ammo instead of the standard 10 rounds. Also to make enemy ships at least somewhat beatable, they will delay before firing their next weapon in the list, useful for one enemy ship. When fighting, your ship should now be properly alined with the target, so you can no longer be facing forward away from a target and still be able to hit it. I'm thinking of making the same change to turrets so that you have to use left and
  right aeros to aim it, instead of the old system currently implemented.

Greetings all. This new update contains quite a few bug fixes. The viewr will now point you towards the correct direction, and will give you far fewer direction changes. This means that the turning system should be far more cumfterble to use. Because I continued with my porting work for the storyline, older saves will no longer be compatible with this new version. Since the new update to the flight system is in, f will now once again tell you your direction you are facing. Their's a lot more things I probably forgot. Hi.Skipping the z coordinate when navigating out in space might be a good idea.But, it would be so great to have this on the planets and on the ships as well, so you can walk, jump etc. in full 3d. Fall down and loose health if you don't watch out, and have a camera scanning system like in BK3, STW, Redspot.The important thing is to make the game easy but intertaining to play for new players, and of course keep more advanced and difficult things in the game for players who want a big challenge as well. There should be something for everyone.

Today's change now makes it so that you are now put through the final phase of creation, skill selection, at the create a character section in the accounts menu, instead of having to log in and go through an area to do it. So no more being stuck after death. Simply delete and recreate if your one of the ones who was effected in creation and couldn't select your skills, and you'll be all fine.

Connor, the issue is you're only in thre dimensions since you're going by three numbers and have no point o reference. I am all for this change to bring in more players with a system that is easier to understand and pick up quickly. The 3D stuf would still be in on atmospheres but the space stuff would in effect be 3D but on two axes. For what it's worth I did some resarching and found Nasa astronauts only really do complex 3D movements when they are needed with the SHuttle when that was a thing, and even then that was launch and re-entry and landing, in space they worked on one or two axis, at a time, e.g. docking to the ISS or orbiting Earth.Also while you o on abobut realism, None of us hae ever been up in space and none of us really know what flying a spacecraft like a fighter is like, but you have to in gam design, balance realism with making it easy to pick up and play and easy to grasp and retain players interest, if it's too hard they'll giv
 e up.

here's my problem, it would completely destroy, aniulate, demolish, and dismember the fact that you're piloting a spaceship, in 3 dimensional space. I personally have never had trouble with the z accis, except in a few occasions with manual pilot.

Greetings all. So upon further thoughts on the space flight system, I thought of the following system, tell me what you think. We restore the old heading system, though we take out the z axis since that seems to cause nothing but trouble, and only use it for measuring altitude in stuff like planet atmospheres. You turn the ship with the left and right aeros while up and down would adjust engine power. To allow for the fact your traveling at hire speeds, planets get a revamp. They would then resemble the planets in the old ff project, where you had a big orbit, say 1000 by 1000, and you had objects inside that orbit. Exitting that orbit would bring you to the system itself, but you'd still need the fusion drive to jump to other systems. The minny games would remain for asteroid mining and fusion jumping, i'm planning to also restore the salvaging minnygame. What do you all think of this system?

@post 756 When did you sell and rebuy? I know that their was a delay after I posted the update in which I apparently didn't update the class properly but it should be fixt now, i'd sell and rebuy again just to be safe. I'll check myself though just to be sure. @post 757 i'm not honestly sure weather I can fix it, the problem sounds to be less related to dmpa and more related to tolk, the library that handles speech output. Unfortunitly I have almost no experience messing about with code like that, but i'll try and have a look. Do keep in mined i'm not a code factory eloquence user, I use the nvda add-on for it, but I do have it installed.

Greetings all. Shields are now implemented. At the moment the flashfire class corvette is the only ship that has controls for them. Simply sell and rebuy your corvette's and you'll find a new shield option under tacticle in the command computer abord. Remember to deploy them before you go fighting npc ships in uncharted starsystems. In addition, npc ships if shot at will now stop what they're doing and go after their attacker.

Greetings all. For those of you who got stuck in creation, delete and recreate your chars. You'll find that the menu now properly shows up instead of requiring you to go to a creations terminal, in the future i'm looking at possibly just making the skills select screen a part of the actual creation process, along with first and last name and gender select. In addition, if npc ships can't find a target, they will now auto destruct, thus freeing up space in the db. Enjoy.

@Farhad Ali BhattiI'll try again to explain it to you because neither of those two DLLs is missing.The program complaining about missing DLLs when I try to run DMPA using NVDA is called Themedia. Themedia is a DRM system used by Code Factory to protect and license its Eloquence for Windows product which I use to provide text to speech services for programs that use SAPI and for NVDA by configuring it to use SAPI as well.The problem is that all other programs that use Eloquence for Windows work without a problem so I seriously doubt that there are any DLLs missing at all.Maybe I wouldn't have this problem if I had Eloquence as an add on for NVDA but I'm not going to spend $70 to buy yet another copy of Eloquence that can only be used with NVDA just to run a game.

Unfortunately, the message is coming from Themedia and not any program you've written and doesn't tell me the name of the supposedly missing DLL or anything else useful, except to reinstall the program.For completeness, I've reinstalled Eloquence for Windows, and DMPA and even NVDA.I still get the missing DLL message when I try to run DMPA with NVDA, any other configuration just results in DMPA locking up after the intro sound.I suspect that something DMPA is doing is unintentially interfering with Themedia's dynamic loading of it's DLLs.Don't you just love DRM?

@Farhad Ali BhattiIf you'd read all of my messages, you'd have seen that NVDA doesn't work for me either. The first time I tried it DMPA still locked up after playing the intro sound, and the last time I tried I got a message from Themedia saying that a DLL was missing. I tried reinstalling the Eloquence for Windows from Code Factory, the only thing that I know of that I have that uses Themedia, but the missing DLL message still pops up.Let's see, due to people not bothering to read all of the messages I've posted, this is the third time I've had to explain all of this.If you can't take the time to read my entire message, why should I take the time to respond?

@sljI never said that you did, and like you I also have NVDA installed but not as a secondary screen reader, I'll use it only when I conclude that there is no way to get JAWS to work in some particular situation.I apologize for the misunderstanding, I was sure that somebody in this thread told me that JAWS was crap and said I should switch to NVDA and I thought it was you. I was wrong.As far as I know the only program I have on my system that uses Themedia is Code Factory's Eloquence for Windows and I reinstalled it as the missing DLL message suggested. Since the error message about the missing DLL didn't name the DLL or it's location that's really all I can do. I know the message came from Themedia because that was what was in the title bar of the dialog with the missing DLL message.This program is the only program I'm having a problem with.I've tried everything that's been suggested. I myself put JAWS int
 o suspend mode to resolve the problem before reporting a problem here because in most cases, that's usually all that's needed. I also tried unloading JAWS and not having any screen reader running.Then I finally tried using NVDA while running the game and got the missing DLL message for the first time.Every other program I have that uses SAPI works fine and even DMPA doesn't produce that missing DLL message unless I'm running NVDA.Anyway, at this point seeing all the other problems other players are having, I've decided to pass on this game for now so Danny can focus on all those other problems.I might come back to this game in a couple of months or more. Maybe by then I'll have a little more success tith it.

@Orko: I have never tried to make you switch to an other screenreader. I was just saying that NVDA is better for gaming, since it's harder to make Jaws work with games. So if you thought I was going to make you switch, then I'm sorry you didn't got my point. As I told you, I'm using both screenreaders.Regarding the error you're getting about the missing DLL files: I don't think it has anything with screenreaders to do. There must be some missing files on your system. I see no reason for me to give you any advice anymore, because we have got enough misunderstandings already...

Unfortunately, because the message is being generated by Themedia, it doesn't tell you the name or location of the missing DLL, just that you should reinstall the program, which I did.Funny thing though, all my other programs I have set to use SAPI including NVDA don't cause any messages about a missing DLL to appear.

Just to satisfy slj, I downloaded and installed the latest version of NVDA and it didn't solve the problem of DMPA locking up after playing the intro sound.Then just for fun I reloaded JAWS and tried DMPA again with JAWS configured to go into suspend mode, same thing. Finally I tried running DMPA with no screen reader running. Again, nothing after the short intro sound. When I loaded JAWS, I discovered that there were two open windows, one telling me that DMPA wasn't responding and the other telling me that Themedia couldn't find a DLL. I have Code Factory's Eloquence for Windows, and as far as I know, it's the only program I have that uses Themedia. As much as I would like to be rid of Themedia, until now it has never caused me any trouble. As suggested by the missing DLL message, I reinstalled Eloquence for Windows, checked it's status and found it was still activated, so I unloaded JAWS and tried DMPA again after reextracting it's folde
 r from a freshly downloaded zip file. I got the short intro sound, then again, nothing. After reloading JAWS, I found the same two windows, one about DMPA not responding and the other Themedia complaining about a missing DLL.At this point, considering that all my other games that use SAPI cause no problems, I decided to just remove DMPA and move on to other games.@sljI've said this in other threads, but I'll repeat it again, mainly because it's been proven true here. As Joe Steincamp said in the Blind Bargains podcast, making disparaging remarks about other peoples choice of a screen reader doesn't do anybody any good, so perhaps, for all concerned, it might be best if such remarks were kept to oneself.

Hi all, server is back up with npc ships enabled. As of right now i'm test spawning them to see how they'll behave, but if they work right you'll be able to battle them. Strongly suggest a fighter as the model they use now is a corvette, and thus they have slower acceleration.

The player's JAWS settings is in a folder based on their primary language, in my case with JAWS18 and with English as my primary language my settings folder ends up being:"C:\Users\Gene\AppData\Roaming\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\18.0\Settings\enu\"

Hi again, At danny:I usually make some little jaws scripts in this case and here is what I do, (If i'm remembering correctly):[options]SleepMode=1Then save it with a .jcf extention and done. Player have to copy that script to there scripts folder, (I think it was called my settings or something like that at all programs/jaws/explore jaws).

DannyI don't mind putting JAWS to sleep or even unloading it before running a game, it only becomes a problem if the game needs a screen reader to voice parts of it such as menus and dialogs.But my problem here is that even with JAWS unloaded, the game locks up after playing the intro sound. So even if it was self voice or if I had NVDA installed and running, something is causing the game to lock up.So regardless of what slj says or thinks, NVDA is not the answer and JAWS is not the problem.

Greetings all. The new minny game for asteroid mining is in. When you start, you will be given a group of random materials to collect. In the stile of tresure maynia, left and right aeros are used to move you on the grid. Down and up will extend your drill and retract respectively. When you come across material, it'll be stored in your cargo bay. I still have to do some more things to it but for now its playable. Note that you now have a new skill to assist you, called mining. The lower this skill is, the slower you are at finding materials.

For those who are getting the pickling error, make sure you have the latest update. The maps were changed from being pickled to using yaml to load, that means that older versions of the game are no longer compatible with either mode.
