Mecha ace for example has you command a mech (a huge fighting robot), in a galactic war as well as command your troops. Samurai hyuga you are a samurai guardian to a girl with magic abilities in a world enspired by japan, complete with oni and other supernatural things. Though the action is text based the stats and descriptions are far more complex than in most text games. For instance, in Samurai hyuga you have a finesse vs brutality stat, so if you choose to fight battles as a quick, cunning swordsman as opposed to a brutal hack and slash affare, your finesse will go up.Have a look at the db entry for choiceofgames for more info. If you want full first person audio go for somethinelse games like pappasangre, if you want something more like a mmorpg try solara, while if you fancy a very good gamebook try some of the choiceogames and hosted games titles (I'd personally recommend fate haven, zombie exodus and mecha ace, and possibly samurai Hyuga). If you fancy something simpler and more traditional lost cities might be a good bet, which is also very tactical and strategical, while if you like audio adventure type games with puzzles try the inquisitor series. I'd highly! recommend king of dragon pass, one of the best games I've ever played whether you like rpgs, stratogy or stories, though I'll be the first to admit it's not an easy game to understand or get the hang of. You're swallowing the "you need the newest hardware and software" argument hook line and sinker.I am using an iPhone 4S with IOS 6, and I'm having absolutely no trouble. Eventually, yes, I'm going to upgrade, but you're making it sound like getting an iPod Touch 5 or an older iPhone or whatnot is a bad idea. Here are a couple of myths to bust.1. You'll get hacked using an older device.Complete and utter nonsense. Your chances of being hacked are extremely low in any case, and the IOS architecture does not lend itself well to being hacked unless the hacker has hours to play with your phone. Windows is a little different in this regard because it's more vulnerable and because, if you're using a PC or laptop in particular, you're probably spending more time on the net and more time potentially fiddling with sites you don't recognize. The more you d o that, the more misery might befall you. Security is important, yes, but not -this important, not for an average user.2. Games won't work well on older phones.This one is only half-breakable. It's partially but not entirely true. Papa Sangre 2 works well enough on an iPhone 4S's processor that would also be found in an iPod Touch 5. Other games would likely not horribly lag the processor. A better processor can and will speed up the device, but only to a small extent. It's not going to change your life. Also, it behooves you to remember to get rid of unused apps using the app switcher, so they're not sitting in passive memory using up resources.3. You need a 32GB device or larger, if you can get it.This -might be true, but considering the topic creator already has a working phone, it's kind of pointless. I'd actually spring for the cheapest available and smallest because you've already got other sources of storing in formation, and unless you're a real packrat, you're not going to gobble up all your space. If you start doing so, then dump some of what you have or consider an upgrade...but always start small, particularly if you have multiple sources. You're being charged, in some cases, a lot of money for space you'll never use. When I bought my 4S I got the smallest available and I'm perfectly happy with it. In essence, the size of the device you want depends entirely on how you want to use it, so while I'm saying to get the smallest one, it's only because that's a good starting-point. The truth is this: only you know your data and storage habits, so only you know the device size that's best for you. Don't let other people tell you how much space you need.4. The divide between Apple annd Android is so large that Apple is the natural and best choice.Debatable, through and through. If you're talking about ease of use out of the b ox, then yes. Number of games? Then yes. But if you like the android voices better, or if you can get android phones for cheaper, or if there are games or apps on android devices that you can't get on Apple devices, then the issue becomes muddied. I'm bringing this up only because I don't like it when someone looks for advice and gets told "go for the iPhone, it's better". Frankly, you don't know what the user wants and what the user already has (in this case, already possesses an Android phone), so saying that is wasteful and confusing.Okay, I'm done. Re: doubts about iOS games I have to agree with the storage comment in post 25. I have an iPhone 5S with 16 GB of storage and it's perfect for me. Keep in mind that you don't get the exact amount of storage that the device has. For instance, you get 12 GB on a 16 GB device, 27 or 28 GB on a 32 GB device, I think 54 GB on a 64 GB device, etc. I believe this is because there is a 3 or 4 GB partition that is reserved for the operating system. Storage is up to you then. As for processor, well that is debatable. I used to have an iPhone 4 that couldn't handle BlindSide. Then again, that device had a single core processor clocked at 800 MHZ with 512 MB of Ram. I'm not saying you have to upgrade your device every year, but I noticed a huge performance boost when I went from a 4 to a 5S. Maybe it's marketing though. As for security, iOS is pretty difficult to hack due to Apple's sandboxing and general ridiculous level of restrictions. Overall, it's up to you. I'm recommending the latest hardware simply because you will get the longest lifespan possible from your device. Then again, if you don't really care about updates and all that, a lower end device might do the job if it runs all the games and apps you want without too much issue. I bought an Iphone 5 in 2012, primarily as you said just to play games on, but sinse I didnt have any other speaking phone I went for the Iphonerather than the Ipad because I thought I might as well get the hole hog . I would however strongly recommend trying one out sinse I dont know how similar talkback is to vo in terms of gestures and there is something of a learning curve with a touch screen screen reader. Vo is in most ways very awesome indeed, and I was surprised myself how easy it was to use, but its probably something you need at least a little familiarity with first. Id suggest perhaps you look around for an apple shop or somewhere else you could try the devices. I got a chap from a loacal blind group (well they are useful for something), to demonstrate to me the Iphone 4. That indeed was part of why I got the Iphone 5 rather than the Iphone 4, because I liked the larger screen. Whether the Iphone 6 and latest Ipad screens are as Slj said too large I dont know (Ill think about it when I look at upgrading), but the best way to tell is trying it out.Another matter I would suggest you consider is Gps, sinse there are some very! very! good satnav type programs for the Iphone which can be very helpful indeed.Lastly, one sspect of the Ios experience I dont personally like at all is Itunes, or rather the fact that when buying music or audio with Itunes its a right bugger to access on a pc owing to Itunes on the Pc being a pain in the arse! Ive had a good old rant about this in the offtopic room so will not do so again, but suffice it to say unless your a fan of Itunes perhaps the Ipod is a less good idea.That being said, purely on the games and other fun programs front there is so much for Ios its ridiculous! King of dragon pass alone will take you many hours, and thats before we get into action adventure games like pappasangre, or multiplayer mmorpg games like Solara, not to mention various sorts of puzzle or multiplayer games of different levels of complexity, and the Choiceofgames and hosted games gamebooks (I have heard these are available for Android though Im not sure if youve played them on that platform).So yes, Id highly recommend having access to Ios in some form or other, just for what you can do with it if nothing else. As I said Ive not investigated the other Ios devices myself, and Im not sure on Itunes and sinse Ipods are basically intended to run Itunes you issues there, indeed even if you do not want the phone aspects Id suggest you look at the differences between the Ipod touch and the Ipad sinse itd be a right pain if you bought the Ipod and couldnt run games on it. If you buy a new iOs device it will come with the latest version of iOs but once you get it setup if theres a new iOs update the device will alert you and you will be updated. Once you have your apple id setup you can buy anything you want from iTunes.Hth. Re: doubts about iOS games Hi.Since you have an Android phone which you are happy with, Ill highly recommend you to get the latest iPod touch, which is, if Im not mistaken, the same as the newest iPHone 6 accept for the great battery life in the big iHone 6 plus.Why would I recommend an iPod touch instead of an iPad? The iPads are very much usable indeed, especially the iPad mini which I personally find awesome. I personally think the normal size iPads are too big when navigating the screen using VOiceover. Sure its doable, but I just dont like it.The iPod touch is the same size as the iPhone but thinner. This is exactly an iPhone without the phone and GPS, which means youll get the same experience as you would if you bought an iPhone. The great thing is that the battery life is pretty nice, since you have no phone which uses lots of battery. So yes, youll be able to run the same apps on the latest iPod touch, unless you wanna use GPS apps or phone apps. Now I dont know what Android phone you have, but you should be able to use your phone as a hotspot and use your phone as a modem when you are on the go, so you can enjoy apps which requires wifi just like if you had an iPhone which uses data from your providor. I havent seem the new iPod touch, but Ill see it tonight if I go to the local Apple shop.
