Fwiw iOS 11 is partially going to solve this problem as you will be able to remap what tapping/double-tapping the left or right AirPods do. You will be Able to pause, skip tracks, or summon Siri. I don't think this will give you a volume control which is why I

ooh yeh and I am scared of losing them while traveling? so for me to consider airpods I would also need a good system to keep them safe if they fall out of my ears.

I am currently using the wired earpods that you get with your Iphone.The problem I have with airpods is the fact that you can not change volume with buttions. I thought that it would be anoying to take out your phone to change volume or skip songs?
