Re: legacy BGT games

Come on people. Its not a clone if it was made legally opened source by the developer. What Simter is saying, BGT stuff can help people learn the structure of programmes/audiogames. I myself personally struggle with that and opened source audigames can help with that.

@12 but we can not always use the klone cart. All the dev needs to do is say that this is not allowed, and bam off with you from the forum. This could include klones that pretent it is completely their work, since there are also legitimate things, like forks of open sourced projects. Yes, we are trying to discurage people from using bgt. The thing is though that, as i mentioned it before, it can help people to get on their feed with new programing languages as well. For my part, it helped a lot, since i already knew the basic structure of programing and how some stuff worked. I was one of them that posted klones and said hay mine, but I know it's wrong. Shoutout to mason at this point, your open source projects, helped me get used to bgt, and i playd arround with more things in private.

Re: legacy BGT games

@9 either that, or @5s solution. Bgt codes are *never* flagged as virus. Also it could help people get used to bgt, which could later on be useful for languages like js or a bit php. Especially for people like me that are not native in englishes such things have helped me a lot, and i also have the feeling that the bgt experience also helped me get py so fast.

With Dark on this fully. There's no point in deleting the past, because people in the past that had the products will upload them somewhere eitherways, so best to put it on your site. IMO if you want to promote trust, its best you have it on your site, and have a disclaimer.

Re: legacy BGT games

I'm afraid my stance is different on this, since for me the important question is the games. Why should games be unavailable simply because people happen to have created malicious things with the same software and microsoft's antivirus pulls a hissyfit, indeed most gamers (like me), have likely already got some exceptions folder just for running the better examples of Bgt games, of which there are many.If a person wants to use Bgt to make something, they will do so, and I'm afraid I don't see the availability or not of Nathan tech's games having much afect on that.Put up warnings certainly, mention Bgt's inequities as a programming language and indeed note the virus problem as a warning to future developers, however, we've seen all too often in this community what sort of shenanigans happen when games vanish (bsc anyone?).Fist of Fury and P's and Q's certainly were more than good enough games in their own right to warrent people playing them, and if they're not going to be rewritten, then why remove them from the community altogether, since the only people who really suffer from that are the people who want to play them. So, my personal recommendation would be to put up an "abandonware bgt" page on the Nathantech website with downloads of the old games, and an explanation as to why they were abandoned. That way, the games would still be available, but Nathantech's position on Bggt would be perfectly clear.

Re: legacy BGT games

@1: One suggestion might be, for any games where you still have it and would be comfortable releasing it, put up the games in source form. In my experience, BGT source code will not trigger antivirus software, and source code can much more easily be reviewed by those who want to be sure you're not doing anything nefarious. Just a thought.

My opinion  is just leave out BGT games. Maybe delete them if you wish. The more we quarantine BGT the more popularity at Looz's. And it is just what we need. a lot of BGT believers  including me has switched to Python now and I believe they won't return to BGT

legacy BGT games

Hello community,A while a go, like over a year at least, I slammed the door on BGT games I had developed. The long goal aim was to have these translated into python and reuploaded, perhaps with some improvements. The reason this was done was due to the BGT triggering anti-virus... thing. I can not think of a better word than, thing.Due to the BGT *thing* I personally was of the opinion that consumers, IE your good selves, would never quite be able to trust me, the developer. Over the years less trust worthy people have used BGT for nefarious deeds that range from the sublime to the damn right rude and I have always been very, very careful to ensure that 1, none of my games do this and 2, I am a developer everyone can trust.Trust was a big factor in me removing the BGT games from my website and I still maintain the fact in my mind it was the right choice to make.Recently however I have noticed that requests via email for old BGT games are not going down.At first I thought it was one of those "end of sale" rushes kind of things. People were worried they'd be gone for ever. But really, over the last year the demand for them has staid pretty constant and that is from those who want them badly enough to get in touch, rather than just saying well... that sucks, and moving on.So this is my question I present to you all:Should I return them to their own page?Games like against the clock have already been ported over, but such things as peaches and cream, deal or no deal, p's and q's, fist of fury, Nate's word hunt of doom, Boat simulator and the like have yet to be ported over to python. The original plan was to do so and remains still, however life and my explosion into the software industry rather put a firm back burner on it.So, would you like me to put them on a legacy page?If so, what measures can I employ to ensure they are safe for you and you trust the games within? My thanks in advance for your answers.
