Re: looking for music composition software that is accessible

Ah. for that you have to enter a program change, which is something likep12orp35or whatever number. These will switch the instruments. for a list of what number goes to what instrument, seehttps://www.midi.org/specifications/ite … -sound-setyou can also set the channel, though I forgot what command that was.  And also, in addition to this, there is a language called mml, and another called zel.

Re: looking for music composition software that is accessible

Thank you very much.I have  this program, and it's  great.  However, I want to create a multi instrument composition, not just  Piano, which I feel is slightly  primitive compared to other instruments.  How would I do this?Vablus

Re: looking for music composition software that is accessible

Hello,AS far as I have understood QWS, and in fact almost all other sequencer programs, a MIDI keyboard isn't mandatory, but you are going to have a hard time without it since you have to enter every MIDI events and notes by hand.Their manual event edition interface is often not that quick, simple or practical because the main goal is to tweak the data after a successful recording, rather than creation from scratch. The other softwares where you don't need a MIDI keyboard are most often based on drag notes on a score. Useless to say that, for us, it's unaccessible or at best not really practical.Personally I have taken a radically different approach with my own software. You enter your notes and events manually, but it's quick and efficient when you know how to proceed because it's in a textual form near from a simple programming language. In fact you are programming music, so to say. The inconvenient is o
f course that you must get used to the syntax, and it may not be so easy at the beginning.I have a MIDi keyboard, but am not that good at it, or at least my imagination goes far beyond what my fingers are able to perform. That's why I chose that particular approach, that I feel much so easier. This is also my geek or programmer side when I make music. If you are interested, look at that topic: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=19426You may also try the ABC music notation.

Re: looking for music composition software that is accessible

Dear  Severestormsteve1:Does this software require that you have a keyboard plugged into your computer for it to work?  I want to make sure that when I am creating music through the  computer, by writing it, that it will work for me without me having to get a keyboard for $300 or so.Thanks,Vablus

Re: looking for music composition software that is accessible

Well, there is an easy one that is accessible and free, called quick windows sequencer or qws. It is a midi sequencer which allows you to create multiple instrument tracks, and you can connect external midi keyboards to your computer and play directly to it.

looking for music composition software that is accessible

Dear all:I am looking for a music composition application that is accessible.  I am using Windows 10,  64  BIT. I'm not looking for the most expensive one, either, but I want something that is accessible that can help me create midi tracks using multiple instruments.  You see, I have, since becoming Drum Major of the marching band at my high school, (no, I don't play drums, I  lead the band), have been interested in composition since the other person who is also leading the band got me hooked on  it.  Any  suggestions?  Keep in mind, it is not as though I don't have experience with music, I have 9 years of band experience  under my belt, and so I am fully capable of doing this, sorry in advance if this sounds arrogant in any way,  not  my  intention. Thanks,Vablus
