I have an three years old general mobile gm 5 plus it's android one device but since my battery drains a lot I'll deffinitelly buy some sort of xiaomi pocophone f1 or mi 9. I'm not the guy of iphone or samsung because an iphone costs around 1000 euros in my country. Also same is wwith flagship samsungs so i think i can get a flagship like xiaomi mi 9 wwith les spending a money so here this phone is around 500 eurosit's deffinitely worth it and unles xiaomi don't runing stock android it's very accesible and runing fast.

Re: new cell phone recommendations

Well I have an iphone 6 +, just started.I have the ios without the eye book series and another access for all from atguys, but havn't read into them.As a new user switching over from an old style symbian to touch, the only reason I even think of going touch is firstly that the market is changing for my line of work.A lot more tests are for mobile not pc now so I need to change. Also 3g is getting quite old and may die sooner or later. Finally despite my sighted family saying the blind do not use touch because they can't see it I have heard people game, use apps and all that and do it well.As a retarded newby, I do have issues with getting used to the touchscreen.I have been assured by people that are my blind friends that a tactile screen protecter is not needed or any screen protecter, which is fine I guess. However, unlocking the phone is hard enough for me.I had a sightling set the unit up for me a thing I regret now as I know that I probably missed out on a few tips.Having typed on a regular keyboarded phone for ages, I roughly know where things should be as the phone keyboard is roughly the same. However without any markings its quite hard to touchtype on a flat serfice.I have ordered a bluetooth keyboard from atguys and hopefully I can use this for simple navigations, once I get the shortcuts for it but while that will be fine for the start the touch screen is where I eventually need to try to go without spending the money on a protector with raised buttons.I want to game and app like everyone else. However firstly I need to learn how to enter my passcode correctly.Either I hit the wrong key or enter it to slowly to have any success. Now I have totally locked out my device. There is absolutely nothing on it, but the fact I have spent so much on stuff to use it keeps me going.A friend gave me this 6+ for 100 bucks, its been dropped and the screen is cracked and will need replacing but its a 64gb phone.I know quite well that dauro or whatever its called in new zealand has an old style dumb phone for the old that does have buttons and speech and will do what I want, and with my setup I can continue for now to buy phones like it and transfer my talks reader over as long as I have an old 32 bit windows or a virtual machine of xp and I have coppies of those. However in the long run, this is probably one of the places where being left in a hole is not a good idea especially when I eventually have to leave home.Theoritically I could stay with symbian till I died, and that would be fine as it is and be fine, but the market is changing and unless I switch to another tech position its one thing I need to look at doing sooner than later. On the subject of phones, nokia seemed to be good on android pure which I was tempted to get.Another unit I was tempted to get was the galaxy a70 because of its rediculous cameras and battery power. For now I have my old phone which to be honest I will continue to use.Now I have this cheap apple tablet, my current thinking is if I ever manage it, I plan to use it for apps but not a phone.I plan to keep that option open for now. After my dad had migrated from apple to android with all his stuff on icloud its a chore to get all that stuff and switching to samsung's own storage, its clear to me that unless you pay for dropbox or google universal storage or one drive that tieing yourself to one system of storage even if they give good deals insures you are tieing yourself to 1 device.I don't want to have to buy another iphone because everything else is on iphone. And while I could switch it does mean that its just that bit harder.I prefur to stay away from a single device intergrated storage solution and use something I can easily access without any special apps or anything. If I had to switch, I'd probably go the microsoft way because of the office deal but that would be it.

As others have said, I'd probably go with the Galaxy line up as it would suit your needs pretty well. If you wanted a home button, the S7 might work for you. They removed it in the S8, unless some of the Galaxy J or A series still has them. In saying that, something like the iPhone 6S is actually still quite a decent phone, considering it's age. The battery life is the one thing that hasn't aged particularly well though. I can totally understand not wanting to fork out a grand for the latest flagship, but from a very new owner of an S10, I love it. I really don't think the bloatware issue is as prominent these days, I've certainly not felt it. I've personally changed a few default apps here and there, but that's usually because I'm looking for some sort of customization that the default Samsung equivalent doesn't offer. one UI is a well overdue change. While Commentary is a very young beast, a beast it is none the less. Alternative screen reader to Talkback that admittedly still needs work, but it's receiving updates every day and the developer is open to suggestions. Again for your needs though, Talkback should do fine.

I don't know really, but as soon as I switched to iOS I noticed how much more responsive voiceover is even at basic things like opening apps. However, even if not that, long web pages and documents in general are a nightmare on Android while voiceover deals with them just fine. Same thing I believe goes with anything long really that TalkBack or voice assistant need to render like a list of over 100 items, voiceover is much better in this regard as far as I saw. I do hope this will all improve one day, since I like Android much more as an OS.

Re: new cell phone recommendations

In fact, Samsung's voice assistant's magic tap gesture really advanced. When it first started out, you could only answer calls, play stop music and do stuff in native Samsung apps. Now however, with some magic they managed to make it do stuff in 3rd party apps as well, so you can answer and end calls in Skype, Telegram and so on as well as play and pause on Youtube and do most of the things you can on IPhone as well. In fact, back when I used it, Telegram's screen for incoming calls was not accessible, but a double tap with 2 fingers worked to answer a call which really surprised me. I have no idea how they are doing this since there is no API for 3rd party apps to use, but somehow that gesture is really magical I would say that the performance is still  better on IPhone especially if you use your phone a lot, but it's definitely getting there. It does annoy me that there is no braille screen input equivalent, and those are a few reasons why I did make a switch to iOS for now.

Re: new cell phone recommendations

Hi. I've heard good things with the Motorola phones but i am a Samsung guy. Here in Trinidad, a J6 costs about 200 US and my phone works great. To answer you can just press volume up and it answers. Volume down rejects the call. to hang up you can press power or press the button on the screen. I dont know about the Samsung bloatware with a bunch of apps you dont use. There is a few actually, but i think the apples are more victim to that than the samsung. The a series costs 4-500 US in trinidad. That's half the price of the cheapest iPhone. If i were you, i'd go Samsung. Also, Samsungs are more durable. That's why my dad got one and got a j6 for me. He works in construction and i am a 13 year old visually impaired kid. I dropped my phone a couple of times on hard concreate and on the road and my phone isnt that banged up and it runs like a clock. Google  Assistant is really accissible and it has fun games to pass time and it works really great with sms and whatsapp. I use it to call people when i feel lazy, which is all the time Voice Assistant works just like voice over. I used the both of them and they were pretty simular. Voice assistant has less gestures to remember so thats a plus. Its really up to you, but i think Samsung is a really great choice. The Motorolas are good choices based on what my friends told me.

Since android P, we can answer all calls just by slide up with two fingers or by simply wearing the phone to your ear. It's just my personnal advice but I must say that I am neither interested in the iPhone, nor by the samsung. They are too in proprietary domin. For bloatwares, it's not only the fault of samsung, but all smartphone without android one.The day I would have to change I think I would take a new phone from Xiaomi, it's cheap and powerful but not android one, and their OS is not free of ads but you can disable it without root.

Re: new cell phone recommendations

Oh, that's cool, I did not know that. I'm considering switching to Android when my Iphone SE can no longer receive major updates, which is probably going to be soon. Besides, I've had it for over 3 years now. Since I'm not thrilled with the prospect of face ID, it seems more and more likely that I'll switch when the time comes. I was thinking about going with a Pixel because I know that stock Android is a lot easier to customize, and that Samsung is famous for cramming their phones full of bloatware and crap that no one wants that can't be removed. I've heard good things about Voice Assistant as well, but that trick for answering and ending calls made me think it would probably be better to start out with as a beginner to Android. In any case, that won't be for awhile yet, and as long as my Iphone still works when that time comes, I plan to keep it around and use it as a glorified IPod. That way, I still ahve the best of both worlds.

On all samsungs there is a way to answer calls with the home button and end with power, but the newer galaxy phones do not have any home button, so you answer with the volume up key.I do not know what to recommend, even the j series started to be decent now. What phone do you have now and are you ok with the interface? If yes, I guess you can get something with a similar one.

Re: new cell phone recommendations

When it comes to answering calls, the iPhone has a pretty big advantage in terms of simplicity over any Android phone. While you can manually look for the answer button and double-tap on it when a call comes in, the iPhone has what's called the "Magic tap" gesture of tapping twice with 2 fingers, which will answer a call if your phone is ringing, but also end it when you're done talking and want to hang up.If you want to stick with Android, don't go for phones that have stock Android (Pixels, Android One, etc), because they don't offer any simple way of answering calls or voice control. However, the Samsung phones do. I haven't used Android in years, but the Galaxy S4 and S5 both had features to answer calls with the home button and end them with the power button, as well as an option to answer and reject calls with your voice. As far as I know the modern Samsung phones still have a way of quickly answering calls with 1 button and the voice controls may also still be there. Finally, Ever since the Galaxy S6 Samsung started including their own screen reader, called Voice Assistant which uses gestures more similar to an iPhone compared to the normal Talkback. This voice assistant also includes the magic tap gesture, which may also answer calls. Hopefully someone with more recent Android knowledge can chime in with more specifics. In the meantime, if you're considering a Samsung phone, find its user guide on-line, and look in the chapter for accessibility features. It should list whether the phone has a simple way to answer calls there.

well if you want to use your phone with just your voice then currently your only choice is the iPhone. You do not need the latestone. new cell phone recommendations

I'm looking to buy a new phone from Tracfone to replace my ancient smartphone that's pretty much run out of any internal storage for just upgrading built-in apps. I'm looking for suggestions. I want to be able to answer incoming calls via voice, I find it takes me too long to try and explore the screen on my current phone to answer incoming calls before it stops ringing, and my current phone can barely transcribe my voice into sms's due to lack of storage space. Otherwise as far as camera or any of the other accessory-type items, those really don't matter too much to me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
