Use another computer to create a linux live CD of any distro with orca, then get clamAV, although you would need to know what the boot menu key is and where your thumb drive is on that list. I haven't tested this yet, but its my fallback should things get

yeah, I think Omar summed it up quite nicely. Always be aware of what you're downloading and who you're downloading it from. it might seem logical, but it's important nonetheless.

so I was watching a TV show I recently took a liking to on my backup laptop today which is also my school computer, when suddenly I hear a very familiar ding sound, that being AVG's threat detectionI assume it got rid of it, but then I opened task manager

Try safe mode. And do not, I repeat do not, place any removable media into the computer, unless you plan for it to get infected and lost. At that rate, try not running anything other than safe mode and or your anti virus.I've heard of some people having luck
