Re: what a broken apple If you hit restore, it will erase then install the latest version of ios.If you hit update, it will update without erasing your phone.I had something similar happen to me with this latest update, which is why I haven't embraced the cloud and still keep my backups in iTunes.Plus, I found restoring from the cloud, while convenient, doesn't restore your voiceover settings, you'll have to switch to the voice you prefer, then you have to re-add all the items you had in your rotor from scratch.If you restore from iTunes, you don't need to worry about any of that, because they carry across.I have no idea why cloud backups don't save those settings.Your cloud backup should be fine as long as it's from an earlier version of ios, it's when you're playing with beta versions where things get tricky. what a broken apple Hi guys. So to summen it up i was doing a very large leap, from ios 13.5 to 14.4, and it failed i think, because now my parents, when i ask them what is on the screen after 4 hours of supposedly updating, they say there's apointer showing a computer and a cable, so this thing is in recovery. Now i don't know what to do:I can use some software to just get it out and see what the state of the device is, or i can restore, but i don't know, will the ios 13 icloud backup, from a day a go, work on ios 14 when i restore, tell me that if it works. Also it says there are 2 options in the recovery mode in itunes, update or restore, so apparently if i choose update it will reinstall without losing your data, does that work? I fucking hope so because i really don't want to lose all of my data, please help me.
