Re: Bluetooth 5 and Audio Yes, but the airpods are still bt4. The chipset is different than the protocols it supports. Airpods work with any bluetooth device not just ios devices. I believe that w1 chip is mainly there to facilitate the quick switching amongst devices and getting connected
