I think he has stopped receiving beta testers since August, and back then, people asking to be testers had to do it via his contact form in his website, a thing I didn't know until the applications for testers were closed Anyway, I'm impatient to see  this game released since Nick's previous title was so addictive that I played it and still play it for hours, and from what I've read and heard on this topic, this is going to be the first serious train sim and probably the most sim I'll personally be playing.

The short answer is N a Soft and Nathan Tech are different. I have, however, explained what I know below. It might not be completely accurate though.n a soft is Nick Adamson, who was also around in perhaps the early 2000's. There was a project that never saw a public release, called Flight Commander, he was developing this for a university project. There was an audio demonstration back in the day and it got the community quite interested, but I don't know what happened to it. I think, at the time, the university didn't let him release it.Then, a few years later, he created a braille display version of Tetris, called Dotris.Then he created Park Bos, and now he's developing TubeSim.Nathan Tech are different, creating the very small train sim from a few months back and now working on Cosmic Rage, an online space mud/moo.

Is N A Soft the same company as Nathan Tech?I'm asking because, like many others, I was interested in Nathan Tech's train simulator, but got 404 errors when I tried to download it, just as many others did. We all posts messages about the problem but the developer never responded.It just seems kind of curious that two apparently different companies announce a train simulator fairly close to each other.

@luis: by the sounds of it I don't think you can "hear" the passengers. Most sim games don't do this, to allow people to focus on the tasks at hand and to be more authentic. I'm assuming that the driver's cabin is separate from the passenger compartments.

Nick,That was a very good demonstration of the Tube SymI have a few questions and suggestions. Are there any places where the train comes out of the tube and into open air tracks?It sounded like the game was giving you the current speed, but when it was stopping, I didn't get a voice saying the distance to the location where you should stop. For example if you break too soon or too late it should tell you that you missed the mark.Breaking too fast should lead to trouble.I'd like to encounter random hazards.1. Person stuck in the closing doors.2. Smoke in one of the cars.3. Something or somebody is on the track ahead of you and you need to do an emergency breaking.4. You stop at Kings Cross Station and a group of wizards get on.5. A bomb is in one of the cars.6. Too many people get on and the cars are over crowded.7. The tube is being flooded and you got to get to the station fast or the train will sh
 ort out and stop between stations.8. A train is coming at you on your track.9. Another train is parked at the next station.10. The power goes out and the train is on emergency batteries.11. If you  open the wrong doors you hear people falling on the tracks!

Hi Nick. The beta test team are a group of people who have volunteered to test the game before it's released. They help me find bugs in the game and are able to suggest bits of the game that need improving. Beta testing makes a much better end product. At the end of my audio clip I asked people to get in contact with me via my website if they would like to be part of the beta test team. All I meant by saying applications were closed for the beta team is that i've got all the testers I need and that new requests would be unsuccessful. @Bogdon a tube driver doesn't change the wagons and stuff, as Nick has said it's all done on a fleet by fleet basis, a driver is just a driver. In fact, sometimes drivers are known to go on strike, I believe that means they stop working for a while to try to make the companies listen to them.

@connor142 you are right about the tube not having dining cars but train stations often have shops. I was only in London once but I think there was a McDonalds in one of the train stations. @simba even though track switching and stuff is done by other workers it still might be fun. Playing with trains as a kid I would always make my trains as long as possible. Perhaps the longer train lengths could mean a slower speed you would have to travel?

Even as a rough concept, this sounds truly awesome and innovative. I'm very excited to play this game when it comes out!As far as random events occurring, as was discussed in the demo, I have a couple of suggestions which I hope will be considered, and won't be too ridiculously hard to implement.First, it would be great if someone would randomly forget things on the train, such as a purse, a cell phone, etc. And if you didn't turn them in to the proper channels, or kept them for yourself, you could lose your job and thus the game, or be penalized in some other way.I was hoping for something like inclement weather, but as the train runs underground, I don't think this would be realistic, sadly. So, could one of the disasters we have to recover from be power outages?Finally, it would be, well, cool is not the word, but perhaps realistically cool, if we would have to deal with something like a passenger throwing up on the train. HiAt the moment there are two modes of play, mission mode and scheduled runs. Mission mode has a driver school and a number of preset routes at preset times. The missions will get progressively harder. The scheduled runs are what you heard in the demo. You pick a tube line, all 10 real tube lines are modelled. You then pick a start and end station and a start time. Much of the data regarding lines, stops and distance between stops was from transport for London so matches the real world as much as possible. I don't think the quests thing would work, because it's london tubes, you don't rent them for vip visiters or anything like that. If there really is a large group heading to heathrow airport or something, they wouldn't matter because they'd go on the tube normally like everyone else. Sorry if this inaccurate, I never actually used the tubes so please don't judge too harshly. I also don't think there's board survice on the tubes so drinks and snacks wouldn't make sense. If this were regional or overnight expresses, I would understand where you were coming from with that.

It sounds great. Also adding some missions like in your train there is a big group of visitors who needs to arrive to the airport and quests like that. You will need to follow the time line, to be sure that they will not be late to theyr plane.

Thanks all for the ideas. The idea of upgrading your train isn't something I'd thought about. Trains aren't like trucks where the driver can personalise there vehicle, the driver of a train drives the vehicle they are assigned on the route they are assigned. A train driver gets a baseline pay irrespective of how many people get on the train so doesn't manage money as part of there job. In the same way, upgrades to trains are done on a hole fleet basis and is decided by the management of the train company. I could put stuff like this in but it's really is starting to move away from the concept of being close to the real world. Progression in the game is based on badges, e.g. The government badge for visiting Westminster, Houses of Parliament, and Charing Cross for white hall. Would be interested to hear your views on this. Hi, this sounds very cool. I have a few questions. Will the game be free, will you be able to pick up and drop off passengers, will there be any upgrade you can buy, and also will there be any HMMM how should I say this police? I have one or two suggestions. You can add  upgrades such as: a Wi-Fi modem so the passengers can go on the Internet while riding on your train. Also what about a little Internet thing you can visit were you can see reviews on your train and also train accidents and workers in the tunnel that you can warn and if you accidentally kill someone you can go to jail. This might be a bit too much to ask for, but I really hope this can be added in the future. Thank you for the school idea  this is cool idea. Also what about passenger conversation that you can listen to. Even if it's just speech synthesis conversation, it would still be cool for example: [[wow]] the train is going very fast today, I really wish they were Wi-Fi modem is so I could go o

Hi. Selving is not a good idea in my opinion. Also I don't want to be harsh but Dardar has stopped working to he's train sim and now he's interest awaken because Nick wants to develope a true sim? We never heard any news about train sim maybe for a year so I think that you will not upset him. Also, I don't think that Nathan's one can be called as a train sim. No passengers, no stations, no objective etc. I can call it only a soundplay. Sorry if I was harsh but that's the true.

@Nick Adamson: I don't think shelving this would be a good idea, as Nathan has seemingly moved on to Cosmic Rage which is a space mud, and beides we don't have enough simulators and yours actually looks very unique, so I say keep it up.

Having played Nathan's train simulator I honestly don't think the 2 can be compared, as it's more of a soundboard. THere isn't any distance being tracked or any other goals. The only game that would be similar is hatsuri Train, which is Japanese so not easily playable if you don't know the language.

Hi.Well, calling diesel railcars old is a bit far fetched isnt it?As far as I know, their are still some trains which have a diesel powered railcar. They even have one advantage over electric railcars. The diesel ones have a generator powered by, well, you guessed it, diesel. Cool thing is, if something goes wrong with a system, the generator can still generate energie for example the ventilation or the heating system of the train.If you take an electronic powered train, if something goes wrong there, well, good by to the train.

Hello Nick. This demo is so kool. I like so much the trains. If you want, I can help with beta testing. Also some features will be kool. I suggest a career mode, winning money, changing the locomotives, the wagons and so one. When you start, you will have a diesel old locomotive and  not very safe wagons so playing and winning money will be fun. Something like train station from facebook.

This sounds really Cool and I'd be interested in beta testing. I contacted you through the website about that.If the game later receives modding support, I would love to make tracks for it. This infrastructur could easily support trains and trams as well which IMO would make the game have a lot longer lifespan.

Hi.Well, I just stated that I am willing to help him, so I don't see where the real problem is.But besides that, a translation or a simulation of other cuntrys would be cool.xD. I am now thinking of something.If there are also delays or random events like a damaged track or something like that, and when it is possible to code different cuntrys. I guess I would code longer on the random events than on the train system in germany .If you ever went to germany and used the trains, I think you know what I mean.

Hi.It sounds like an awesome simulator. I'm not a train geek, but I'm interested in trains in generel, how to drive them and how they works. So I think this simulator will catch my interest for sure. I'm on my way in a train while writing this post by the way. It would be interested if the game could be translated or if you could make your own missions, train sounds etc- It would be cool to simulate the trains in other countries than the UK, but it doesn't sounds like it's possible when listening to the demo.I like the possibility of the online scoreboard. I really like the way the train simulator might get an idea about where the train goes in the UK. I mean, it sounds like you can get an idea on where the cities, train stations are connected to each other etc.Regarding beta testers: It's interesting that some people simply don�
