Number of hazards jumped, bombs / animals avoided, bolders and probably walls destroyed, etc. Doing things in game earn you level points which contribute to your level. On the other hand, plain Python is very easy to decompile, so I think even basic protection would have been good to have. The idea is to make something not worth cracking, because it would take too much time. This is when research becomes important. Imagine a company releasing a product without doing research on the needs of the people, for example asking what flavor they like better, etc. If you just throw something out there that is clearly rushed, it tells a lot about your devotion and your attention to detail. Yet again, this is not a problem for a free game, but it certainly is for a commercial product, where your aim would be to show your best side, since you expect money for your work.If this continues, and you keep releasing unpolished, or not working products, your user base, people who still trust you and your abilities, will just wait for a few months more, until you iron out bugs. Feedback will not come in, you won't make a profit, and generally the thing is going to be a flop. I wish I could say something positive, other than your commitment to updates and fixing issues, but unfortunately, this is a horrible way to launch a product. TO clear somet hiings up...no, the reason why I had to update the registration system in a hiurry was because someone had decompiled the game, told me about it and started bragging how they broken the registration system. This of course, prompted me to try to cythonize the game and somehow screwing up the compilation process on the mac. I finally got the windows versiont o work, but I am really not sure what's going on with Cython. Carter has been a huge help these last few days, but we can't get anything done here. Like I said, I'm actively trying to test new things and if I still can't do it by this afternoon I'm gonna try to reformat and clean everything out with the mac. I'm sure you could say well you could have cythonized your game before initial release, which i tried doing but after a while I figured...well if people want to crack the game they'll crack it, nothing I can do. The manual and the game use different terms (electric hole vs electric pit), the pricing issues, the registration method, the issue of sounds (legality and why on Earth would anyone use fire to represent lava (which is also misspelled in the manual, by the way), strongly suggest that IMS Productions really needs some more experience before thinking about coming out with a commercial game.With the understanding that the game is meant to be a fun and small one, I really feel that it exists largely to generate revenue. While developers need support, in this case for hosting, it would have been far better to wait and use DropBox or any other service for the moment being. Is it professional? No, certainly not. But I think on this level it is not something that we would have expected, and the developer would not be pressed to generate revenue to cover prices. The only problem is that the price tag, be it any amount, moves expectations up a notch. On the level of a commercial game, these things are just simply not acceptable.This is solely my opinion, of course, so feel free to disagree, or even ignore it altogether, however, the end result could be very damaging not only for IMS Productions's reputation, but for other, less experienced developers as well who are just starting out. If you're going to charge for something, please for beer's sake make absolutely sure that your registration system works, and doesn't need to be redone, before release. These are the sorts of things you would normally figure out before you released the game, not after 20 people bought it and then came complaining about not receiving their keys, their keys not activating etc. A nonfunctional registration system simply sets a very bad precedent and is just a big no no. Any other bugs that happen at launch are more acceptable than bugs with the reg system, seriously. Finally, although the pit falling sound from sb may be usable because sb is open source now, it's still the wrong sound and should be changed to something more firey. Or change the fire pit sound to a water one. I hate inconsistancies like those. I'm not sure if that counts as a stolen sound or not. Of course, someone else accused him of using boulder sounds from branble and that's definitely not open source, but it does raise the question of whether sounds from open source games count as stolen assets. I would hazard a guess at no, because I mean, the whole game is open sourced, not the code, but it also may be pedantic. ALso, the point is moot if he indeed did use sounds from branble in this case, but you may want to think about the precedent you set for future issues. Now I know why we don't want to release stuff to a forum such as this.Sure there is bugs, and sure it charges or charged them a dollar extra, but it was a typo in the registration system that I think he fixed.I also reported to him some spelling errors in the online readme file, just to be nice though someone would have done it anyway.This was a honest mistake and he said that he would fix it.I've had enough reading people complaining and writing basically the same post over and over again, when it was already said, and already dealt with. Well then, if the registration was cracked or whatever, stick to the old keys until you update with the new system, and then give out new keys. Sending new keys for an old system, is just no publicity at all. Yes, you "should" improve systems where possible, but you should also transition to new ones, if and only if, people have a way to get their hands on the new system in use... All in all, judging on the inconsistencies of the demo time as well as the price even "unless that's an exchange rate issue" linked with seemingly not too much originality, and the fact that it's rage inducing makes me pass over this one.
