Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

I have tried them all. They do not have menu voices. Dbz shin budokai has a complete story dialog written up on gamefaqs somewhere, and you can just as well use retroarch or ocr for dragon ball evolution. The other games have more story voiced, but again, not playable.

Yes, dbz shin budokai and dragon ball evolution are both fully playable and use the same fighting style. Dbz shin budokai another road isn't as playable because the story requires you to fly around chasing targets and the same is true for tenkaichi tag team. None of these games are available on psn.

Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

Sorry for the delay, my internet was out a while.  anyway, the LOTR tactics menus:main menu:TutorialNew GameLoad GameDelete Save DataMultiplayerCreditWhen you click new game, you'll be given the choice of fellowship, or host of Mordor.  You start on Fellowship and right for Mordor.  You'll know which one you pick by the sound made. You are then given a difficulty screen left to right.  You always start in the hero overview.  for Fellowship, it's aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Sam and Frodo.  Same as Return of the king for PS2, oddly enough.  Press X to get to the mission screen.  I'd highly recommend grinding the first mission for gold and experience to make your life easier.  This won't work straight away, but go south on the grid twice, west once with all three characters, then attack the witch king, who can be targetted by pressing L twice usually.  This will after a couple goes be a one turn win.  When on the character overview, press R to go to that specific chars inventory, twice for skill shop, three for item shop and four for options menu.  The options are as follows:MOVIESRADARSUBTITLESMUSIC VOLUmeSound volumeSave.Let me know what else you need.  I'll get the evil character side asap, but I know you start on Sauron, then witch king, then I believe gothmog, lurtz, saruman and finally Grima.  I could be slightly off on that though.

to turn on auto fire, at the game selection screen press left twice and press X to enter the options screen. then you'll be given a few choices, which are controls, display, audio and profile. press X to go to controls, then press up to highlight the auto fire option. press right to turn it on, then press start to save your settings.if you are starting the game for the first time and you haven't changed any settings yet, you'll be thrown to the PSP save screen. choose the memmory slot if any, then press X twice to save your profile.to enable unlimited continues, at the options menu go up twice then go down once and press right to enable unlimited continue. to change the difficulty, press up once and press either left or right arrow. there are 3 difficulty settings, which are easy, normal, and hard. to change the difficulty to easy, prest left. once done, press start to save your profile and select the memmory slot and press X twice to save.

Autofire should be in the controls. Unlimited continue should be in the game options. Even on the original neo geo hardware on which these games were released, nothing except the music was in stereo. The neo geo had poor stereo panning capability when compared to capcom's cps1 and cps2 arcade, which could render sound in every stereo position, whereas neo geo could apparently only do center, far left, and far right.

Dragon ball z shin budokai is completely playable, and even without a way to read the screen, there is a full story guide with all written dialogues on gamefaqs. I can try to get the menu options and put them here later on. I cant recommend dbz shin budokai 2 or tenkaichi tag team though, since both of those games require you to move freely around a map and tracking targets is near impossible.

Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

If people feel like Odinsphere and Muramasa have been misplaced on the playable vita games list, I can relocate them to the section of games that require patience. I need to update that list anyway as new games worth considering have come out that need to be added.Last night I played a ton of I am the hero. Was playing in bed though so wasn't able to read the story, but I got pretty far. I will say that one of the most annoying things are the flying creatures that take a ton of air hits to beat. Also there is this auto scrolling section later on that sounds like you're underground that has an instant kill if you aren't careful, but I was able to get past that ok. I recommend recruiting another character to help you along the way. You can switch with the select button. As for the auto fire not working in metal slug 6, I think it may only apply to 1 through 5, but not sure. Metal slug 6 may have it's own set of options similar to how samurai shodown 6 did in the collection with it being on different hardware.

Weapon room (this is unlocked later on). Options. At any time you can press select plus start to return to the title screen. Helpful if you accidentally go into versus. Let me know if there's anything else. That screen doesnt stay up very long it's TRUE. There is a very detailed guide for the edge master mode on gamefaqs that describes the scenario for each character and all win conditions.I also wish I'd have known about this sooner, but I was still rockin a nes when this came out and had only gotten a snes with donkey kong and mk2 to play. If you have auto fire off, you need to constantly spam the fire button. Even machine guns will just release a spray of bullets before stopping with a single press. With autofire on, you can just hold the fire button to shoot continuously with whatever your weapon is.I think there are some unlockable interviews. Hoping I can unlock.them.

So I don't know if this works in all games, but I've noticed that when shooting armored vehicles and enemies, there's a sort of ricochet sound when you hit them.  at least I'm assuming that's what it is.  so I've started just trying to just keep hearing that sound until it goes boom.   I'm so looking forward to vehicles and transformations later.  Out of interest, I'm guessing the metal slug xx would be similar to this?  although from what I've read, it doesn't look that worth getting if you've got all these already.

There are some instances where you have to go into the opposite direction to progress. And yeah, you can shoot up and down as well.

I get the feeling that you can also move or aim up and down too.  I keep getting killed by something in metal slug 2 which I believe is dropping bombs on me.  I'm sure I'll get it with a bit more practice though.  Love these from what little I've been able to play so far.

Tried most of the games, but no luck at the part where you have to jump around to proceed. Any tips on how to pass those parts, like in stage 3 part 2 in metal slug 3 or in mission 2 in metal slug X? I try going right while jumping and shooting but i keep hearing a sound like when the area is cleared from enemies so I can go right to advance then suddenly the countdown timer starts then suddenly I loose a life.

I also recommend neo geo heroes. Its not a run and gun like this, but it is a horizontal shooter with infinite continues that you can toggle on and off. It's just as playable as this and has that same arcade feel. Thisnk of it like the aircraft shooter stages in bk3 minus the obstacles.

oh fantastic!  I wonder if there any other sidescrollers like this that are playable. Really gives me an arcade feel, naturally as these were there originally.  Wish I had been able to play these with friends, I get the feeling we'd have had a hilarious time if we had, with all the crazy enemies, transforming, that sorta thing.  Thanks again.  as an aside, think I'm going to get dark resurrection as well.  was considering normal five, but dr has armor king.  I love armor king.  plus extra modes that are actually playable.

Picking up stuff and entering vehicles is automatic as you approach them. You can aim in all 8 directions by moving the d-pad in that direction. If you are close enough to an enemy, you can take em out with a melee attack, but that doesnt work when you're fighting giant tanks and the like.

Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

Riviera is a special case, because you are navigating areas from room to room, rather than one step at a time. While in each room, you can enter look mode and interact with things around you.As for muramasa, you may be missing a door, which you can go through with up. It's the same thing with odin sphere. If you're encountering areas where going right and jumping isnt getting you anywhere, you might have to explore that screen thoroughly and see if there is an area you can enter with up, or if there is a platform you need to jump on to progress. That would be my recommendation in such situations. Sometimes, you can interact with people using the cross button, which is another reason you might want to search around.

I could always pick a copy of riviera  from amazon or something.I guess it's down to memory with that 1?I watched a video of someone playing it and the story sound quite good, but I couldn't understand what they were doing in the menu's.As for As for muramasa, , I don't know what I'm necessarily doing wrong, but sometimes I just got to a point where I was just running and jumping right and nothing was happening, so it's probably down to my wonderful navigation skills. :d

Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

In the metal slug games, there are indeed sounds for when your bullets, and when even you physically make contact with an enemy. Even for sighted players, some kind of auditory feedback for hitting enemy is important, and that is most certainly true for a series as hectic as metal slug. Yes, you will fight tanks and maybe take command of a vehicle or two, but it complicates nothing, especially in terms of auditory feedback from hitting enemies. In the case of sidezcrollers, its important to differentiate what kind they are, because sometimes you have 2.5d sidescrollers that let you move slightly along the y axis, meaning up and down. A good example is the streets of rage series. Then their are others that are strictly 2d, like Odin sphere, where you only move left and right. In the case of Odin sphere, there are times when you might need to climb over obstacles or go through doors to progress. It's the same thing with muramasa, which plays similarly to odin sphere. I believe that I have done a fair job at indicating whether a game is 2d or 3d or 2.5d in the list, but if there is a specific one you know of that I missed, please ask.As for rpg recommendations, if you're having this much trouble with muramasa, then it's hard for me to recommend odin sphere. The other ones for the psp, being lord of the rings tactics, riviera and ygdra union have since been taken from the store, but if you can find them, then those are the ones that I recommend. If you do not mind an rpg fighter hybrid, then dissidia is not like injustice, mk or any other traditional fighter, because it stays true to its origins, letting you level each character, earn new skills and get new dear, in addition to providing an rpg quality story.

Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

OK Kenshira, I have a few more questions.Firstly, how can you tell that you're hitting enemies in a game like Metal slug, because it's a shooter?Surely because there's vehicles and stuff in the game it makes it kinda complext. Also, some of these games you've mentioned, are they just 2 way sidescrollers, or 3D 1s?The reason I ask this is because there's been many a time where I've bought myself a sidescroller, thinking that it'll be playable, and I end up being clobbered all the time because of positioning.Muramasa: Rebirth,  is a good example, because I bought it craving a new RPG before you wrote the article, and I thought it'll be playable but it wasn't.The sound where a little to basic, and the combat left much to be desired.Lastly, could you give your recommendations of the best RPG and fighter from your listings?Excluding fighters like Injustice and similar.

Re: Playable PSP/Vita games for a totally blind person?

As stated in my description for metal slug anthology, you start immediately where you left off when you die or lose a continue. This is true for every game in the collection, and you have an unlimited number of continues, unless you wish to turn that option off.As for dissidia, it's completely doable, more so now that ocr and retroarch are a thing. Although the game is played in a 3d space, it has a lock on system so you can stay focused on your opponent. Later on, you can unlock command mode, a setting that had the computer to control where your character moves, leaving you to focus on attacking and defending. This increases the playability of dissidia significantly. The rest of the game is learning the menus, and there are a few quality of life things like optimize that make equipping the best gear easier. If you or anyone else has questions about any of the games I have listed, please ask, and I will be happy to explain them as the compressed nature of the aforementioned article prevents me from going into in depth detail there, so I will do it here.
