Re: if anyone here is a protools voiceover user... please help

@6, pro tools is 100 percent usable on the mac with voiceover. In fact, at my college I'm being taught it by someone who's blind. One advantage of pro tools is while flo tools does make work faster, everything can be done without it. If using a control surface you can achieve almost the same level of efficiency whether you use flo tools or not. Pro tools has many different ways to do most tasks. Some people like reaper more, and some like pro tools. I personally don't like the reaper interface but that's just me. Logic is also accessible and I'm not big on its interface either. I know plenty of blind people who use both though. Everyone swears by a different DAW it seems. I don't think asking a college / university to accommodate the use of a different program simply because its easier to use is a very valid reason in my opinion.

The problem is getting the hang of it, though I may give reaper a go at some point. Is it accessible on mac or more on windows?your university should be a bit more accommodating in this regard, mine was when i proposed a music editing software I used all the time, but I understand that it is not always the case. Reaper has pretty much accessibility equally as far as basic editing and essential interface things go in windows and mac, but windows does give you a few more possibilities in terms of third party plugs.

Re: if anyone here is a protools voiceover user... please help

@4, thanks a lot. At the moment, my main problem is, I cant seem to select stuff. Like, when i'm looking in  the flowtools keyboard shortcuts helper, it says, down arrow to start selection... but when i press it, there is no spoken feedback

Re: if anyone here is a protools voiceover user... please help

I am a pro tools user. There aren't really many tutorials around unfortunately. There was one from pro tools with speech, but thats for version 10 so not very relevant anymore as the accessibility has gotten much much better since then. There is a pro tools mailing list for voiceover users. I would recommend that. You can ask any questions there or pm me as well though some of the more advanced features such as elastic audio and playlists are a bit beyond my skill level right now lol.The mailing list email to subscribe isptaccess+subscr...@googlegroups.com. Send a blank email and you will be added to the list. There is also a whats app group that is quite useful. Just ask about it on the mailing list and one of the admins can jump you in. Hth.

Re: if anyone here is a protools voiceover user... please help

I am very sorry to ruin the day a bit, but reaper does offer far more flexibility and possibilities than pt, whose recent accessibility commitments have been just too diplomatic. If you would like to give reaper a try, there is this article that describes all of the missahps you might find in the way, plus a newly revised section on the whole recent permissions thing. There are also audio tutorials with the description of the installation procedure, and so on.
