Re: looking for fedback on my beats thank you all for the feedback!Look, there are a couple reasons why I don't use reaper, but if these were fixed aI can guarantee you I will give it another try:well, there's really only 1 really, and that is that for some reason, sometimes the midi editor just stops, refuses to insert notes, currently my garageband goals are getting to know how to use EQ and that bloody not-working sampler! a new beat is coming in a few days to show off my new learnings, quantization, more melodical enhancements as always, my beats are made with melody as the absolute top priority, drums second, and well, mixing came up. also, did anyone think I did some better mixing in dream?Mixing is going to move higher on my priority list, and drums will improve overtime with my knowledge of quantization and some stuff. Re: looking for fedback on my beats Sorry it took me a while to get back to you.Your beats are good, and if you wish to keep producing professionally, I would switch to a DAW where you have more control on what happens. You need to improve on your mixing, unless you are intentionally trying to blare some instruments, but the general volume of some tracks are just too high.The drums are good, but maybe some variation would be good if you can try it out, so its not completely the same all throughout, maybe adding some different sections, and chorus's, verses etc.It would be nice to hear some different variations with garage band, but to get really technical without making your beat sound like a donkeys ass, I would switch to logic or reaper. But on a computer, not an iPad.Overall, I think the biggest ups of your beats are the melodies and creation, you really have an ear for some lovely sounding shit, just need to improve on your mixing and mastering of your overall tracks, you want instruments to shine light on each other.I love what your doing so far, and its an improvement by far. It's obvious you're still learning and it took a while for me to figure everything out, especially the mix, I'm the kind of guys that likes the drums to really bang and be in your face. I do more of a sample-based golden era hip-hop type thing, if you wanna hear my stuff, the website link under my post will take you to my soundcloud. But if I can give you any tips, it's just to study what you enjoy and take different things from different artists, that's what I did. I used to have a very heavy Mobb Deep-esque sound back when I first started out because I was listening to their early records the most. Same thing with mixing as well, I never really followed tutorials on youtube unless it was to see other people in action mixing, or if it was a software related thing, and IMO, a lot of modern mixing and mastering is pure trash because it squashes and fucks up the dynamics of everything.
