A while ago varient frequencies (who have a horribly laid out website but do some really good and disturbing stuff ranging from sf to action), did an awsome series called failed cities. These are as you said read with sfx, but they are just so well put together, from the acting to the music to the changes in style that I absolutely recommend them. Basically theyre a post appocalyptic story with some noire elements set in the failed cities, two cities in america, one of which is where the hyper rich live in a huge sky scraper while the world around them goes to hell, the other is a crime ridden, lawless concrete jungle where the only thing close to law is the street preachers, sort of a cross betweene religious nuts and police. The story concerns a plot to cause a civil war between the street preachers, which of course goes to hell. Characters are also great, going from the ferril twins who have to be the two mos t disturbing assassins ever! to constable clomenco, an eastern european immigrant who ends up working as a security guard for the hyper rich and falling into some very weerd situations with cerial killers. The varient frequencies site is here however as I said it has a really horrible layout that make it hard to find stuff, I just stuck the rss in Klango.for this reason I have stuck the failed cities monologues, not to mention the rather disturbing cchristmas special Hartha darkness up on sendspace, to make it easier for people to try out (it was free originally so no problem with redistribution). Re: tips for audio drama podcasts There is also a list of audio dramas and online audiobooks over at www.whitestic.co.uk, which has several of the better free audio companies on there like darker projbects as well as some of the paid ones like big finish.Off hand I cant think of anything on darker projects that has lots of action accept falcon banner, (which sadly is probably never going to get finished which is a shame), sinse while series like byron do have their share of big action moments and escapes, going upto and including appocalypse the emphasis is as much on horror and weerdness. Then again, I wouldnt have said leviathan was %100 action focused either, sinse while it definitely had its fare share it also had an awsome plot and great characters as well, and I really! wish theyd get off their rear ends and give us the rest of series 2!
