Thanks DK,
I have done some web surfing , but hadn't found those two!
The pre-amp in a Sonic Frontiers Line 3. It's a bit of a monster, with
10 6922's 2 6U8A's. Fortunately, there's only two really critical
6922's so I don't need tight matching on everything!
Cheers, Dave

Thank you for your suggestions. I decided to try out some
ElectroHarmonix 6922 tubes along with a pair of Amperox orange globe
6922's that I was able to purchase from Brent for 65/pair.
I've heard those Siemens CCAs (60's) and my oh my, they sounded so
sweet. Currently on the lookout for a
Brent is from http://www.audiotubes.com. Great guy to deal with, feel
free to call him if you have any questions.
http://www.tubemonger.com/ is also a good site for tubes.
Hope this helps.

DK
P.S 10???!! YIKES. That is scary indeed! What pre-amp is that?

Last night 1 of my Amperex 6922 tubes went bad and needs to be replaced.
So I'm stuck with using these cheap Sovtek 6922s as a replacement - a
temporary measure let's hope - for my Kora Hermes DAC.
It's been a while since I last shopped around for these tubes and alas,
came to a realization
I've been happy using regular ElectroHarmonix 6922 tubes in my preamp
and hybrid amp. Definitely smoother and more refined than the Sovteks,
and still only about $12/each. You can spend a little more and get the
gold-pin version for a slightly warmer and richer tone...

My vote is for the Siemens CCA 6922. I used to own a Kora Equinox and
the Siemens tubes matched perfectly with this preamp. However, these
tubes are not cheap.
