sorry I just read the next discussion around this. How come the launcher
says "there is a new version" if we're following the actual stable release.

Why was it flagged outdated in the first place? There was no new version.

The package maintainer is active and disputes the out of date flag by

You lacked 2 versions of the launcher. These are not beta, but releases.
Just orphan the package dude, or update it.
