Request #10460 has been accepted by Alad [1]: When a maintainer orphans a package, the maintainership is transferred to any remaining comaintainers.
In this case however, the removal of the comaintainer was done _after_ the package was orphaned by the original maintainer (who added the comaintainer) and adopted by the orphan requester. This either means some indisclosed happenings or a hickup in the AUR, thus the 2 week grace period should be followed as usual. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Alad/
