John P, Having flown at Bacchus for quite a while this seems a fairly conservative decision. There are many times at Bacchus when a low finish can be done quite safely - been there, done that. The issue should be to find opportunities when it can be done, rather than a blanket ban, otherwise

Terry, its indeed true that there are times when traffic is quiet at Bacchus, especially at this time of the year. However there are many times when traffic is very busy especially power traffic from other locations who have limited understanding of gliding. I often see both local and visiting

don't worry Ron -you will be OK and it is not intended you have to fly with somebody to prove you can do it. It is for the newer person and years ago I watched Les Wotten copying what Brad E used to do in a "low finish" and he soon found himself with no speed heading in the wrong direction

I cant believe the fear involved with this spectacular manoeuvre. One time in the last 40years has a fatality occurred in Australia due to Low level ? Yes it looks to be dangerous but looks can be deceiving, please take the time and an unbiased view to asses the real risks before

The issue appears to be people transposing low finish training to 'beat ups'. There is a big difference, and both are good fun. The rules for low finish endorsement are very well written, and require radio communication with the base and other traffic. Why would you not simply stipulate the

Paid Advertisment For all those budding competition pilots at the Marsh who wish training in low finishes. Training is available 11/2 hors to the North Aircraft PW6, VNE 148kts, No power traffic, not even towplanes. Excellent soaring conditions. Where else? Bendigo Gliding Club!
