Summary - Crashing completely using spotify
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - Core
Status - Unconfirmed
Assigned To -
Operating System - Linux
Severity - High
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - 3.5.5
Due in Version - Undecided
Due Date - Undecided
Details - Hi,

I have installed spotify on ubuntu from http://repository.spotify.com stable
non-free.

If I start the program and click around a bit (start a , awesome crashes so
that I have to log in again. This does not happen using Unity.

Possibly relevant log lines I've seen:

E: awesome: a_xcb_io_cb:218: X server connection broke (error 1)

error:x11_util.cc(115)] X IO error received (X server probably went away)

I found something that it might be driver related, so I tried nouveau and
nvidia proprietary drivers, but no difference.

Thanks,

exic

[awesome bugs] #1278 - Menubar should check all standard directories

A new Flyspray task has been opened. Details are below.

User who did this - Uli Schlachter (psychon)

Attached to Project - awesome
Summary - Menubar should check all standard directories
Task Type - Bug Report
Category - Core
Status - New
Assigned To -
Operating System - All
Severity - Low
Priority - Normal
Reported Version - git/master
Due in Version - 3.6
Due Date - Undecided
Details - From the mailing list:

Hi All,

I've installed an application with .desktop in ~/.local/share/applications.
Now I want to launch it using modkey+p but it is not there (awesome already
restarted).

As far as I could understand awesome's menu_gen.generate() doesn't look
into that folder. There is such code in lib/menubar/menu_gen.lua.in:

menu_gen.all_menu_dirs = { '/usr/share/applications/',
'/usr/local/share/applications/' }

And then it simply iterates over all_menu_dirs variable. Is it possible to
make it also look in ~/.local/share/applications?

I'm not sure if there is a standard regarding where to put desktop entry
files; this is what gnome people use:
https://developer.gnome.org/integration-guide/stable/desktop-files.html.en

Thanks,
Ivan
