around the 1850's. I have come across many Franco and Medeiros names.
For instance: Nov. 8, 1853, Justo or Fusto was born to Antonio de Medeiros
Franco of Achada and his wife, Dona Rosa Jacinto of Nordestinho. Antonio

Guitao de Souza came to Hawaii in 1883. His wife was Maria Ferreira. I
can't find his name on the manifest but he was also know as Caetano or
Caitano de Souza. They had a child Maria born in 1882 in Azores
Sorry Jim, I can't help you. What you need is to find out what village
your father was born in the Azores and start at that point. My Sousas are
from the Ribeira Grande area and none of mine went to Hawaii. So, we don't
have a connection there.
