Interesting, how many of the portuguese went to california. About 1/3 of my
family, both sides live in California. I did from 1965 to 1999. My family is
spread from LA to SF/Oakland.

Steve,
I've had a look at that record. The Padrinhos listed are Francisco Pimentel
Baeta and Ana Ursula, his wife. They can be found in many Santa Cruz
records. There were at least four Pimentel Baeta brothers; Antonio,
Francisc, Jose , and Manuel. They were born in Santa Cruz in the late 1700s.
Steve,
Found Manuel's parents marriage, page 45, middle:

George,
I would recommend for you not to give up and to try and find a good
computer geek in your area that may be able to recover all your lost data
from the hard drive. It's a matter of know how and the right tools.

Adam,
you are not missing anything, the records for Graciosa are not online as yet.
You will have to go to www.FamilySearch.org and do a “place” search for
Portugal, Graciosa and the village you are looking for and order the microfilm.
You will then have to go to your local Family History
It looks like he was from Nordestinho, Sao Miguel island.
Good luck with your research.

George, I should be a tiny bit more specific. You should reset to a month or a

your system back to the date you specified. Anything between the time of the
date specified and your crash will be lost, but it's not as
