There is a souttomayor line from Topo, s. Jorge, who married a descendent of
Wilhelm Van Der Hagen. I have found this surname mainly in Topo, Ribeira Seca
and Calheta. Emil if you don't mind asking who was your souttomayor ancestor?

You can find this name in Sao Sebastiao, Terceira in the 1600s and 1700s. Same for Praia da Vitoria, Terceira, Cabo da Praia, Se Cathedral in Angra, Porto Judeu. There are priests in the Terceira freguesias that have the name. Not so common, but I see it a lot on Terceira. I think some priests on

Hi Everyone
Many of my ancestors are from the Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel area. I
would say that probably more are from that area of Sao Miguel than any
other, with the exception of maybe the villages of Nordeste. Has anyone
heard when the baptism and marriage records for Ribeira Grande

Thank you Cheri! I seem to keep running into the beginning of parishes. Is
there a good map somewhere that shows where each of the freguesias are? I
hate to keep asking every time I come up against this issue.
Thanks again for all your help,

Hello,
I would like to hear from genealogists about a thing: I found one record of
marriage with José Gomes de Oliveira and Maria THEODÓSIA DE JESUS. The couple
that I found on the record of baptism of my great grandmother was José Gomes de
Oliveira and Maria Magdalena do Rosário. Was it usual
Hi Marcio,
I am currently working on the correctness and additions to my wife's maternal
line from Prince Edward Island, Canada. This has most of my attention at the
present. I will find a good stopping point soon and contact you directly on
this subject. I hope that's OK.
I am old and slow.

Erica,
Google AzoresGenWeb and Kathy Cardoza’s site will come up. She has great maps
that show the villages and which ones are close to each other.

Herb,
They are on Santa Maria island right now. If I'm not mistaken, the only
things left are Graciosa (4 freguesias) and the council of Ribeira Grande
(about a dozen or so freguesias). So which way will they go? 4 freguesias
and get that out of the way or finish up Sao Miguel and get that out
What time span were they having children (the years) do you think?Look
before and after the date of that marriage and when you find one
baptism, compare the names of the padrinhos to the parents listed in
that marriage. If one of the aunts or uncles was a padrinho/madrinha,

Hi all,
My guess is that something is going on with Ribeira Grande that they
decided to skip it, I'd bet on Graciosa being next.
