Repost for Dave Brown, davesalaska at gmail.com
I am still looking for more information for my mothers Great Great
Grandmother, Maria Torres (born 1846). She was married I believe to Joseph
or Jose Viveiros. He was born in 1841 in San Miguel. I have no record of
marriage or death for either.
Hello Gordon,
In reading the excerpt, it gives me the impression of loss of
content/nuances due to its translation. Can you post the statement portion
you wish to have clarification on in its original language (presuming it is
Portuguesese).
Having said that, I think you got the gist of it but
Yes.

My cousin was born and raised in Mission San Jose. They wouldn't let her
look at the records either.
Such a shame.

Thank you Susan. I typed the census info in probably 10 or more years ago. I
had not been able to do any research for several years and just got back into
it so I don't know. I will change it. From the will I did get that it was
Manuel Pereira Silva which I had always assumed but family always
Thank you Bill you are such a great help. I am slowly getting my reading

Julzz,
You have the year correct and are close on the dates.
Born on 24 November and baptized on 26 November 1865.
Parents Jose Correia, field worker, and Maria de Jesus, domestic
occupation, who are natives of this parish where they married, are
parishioners, and are residents in "Oiteiro".
I need help with translation. I think the birth was on the 22nd of Nov 1865
and bap was on 24 of nov same year but not sure on the year. I can read her
parents but not sure on her grandparents and god parents.
Thank you
Bottom right # 153
Would that be Father John Mendonca from Fall River?

Susan Emeryville is listed in the top of the census records. That is why I put
it there. He is buried at Holy Ghost Crmetary in Fremont. I lived in Stockton
until 7 years ago when I moved to Kansas. I do have cousins in Bay Area as well
we are all stumped. Grandpa wouldn't even teach his kids

Hi "E"
I couldn't open that particular book (Praiinha, baptisms, 1900-1911) in MS
Edge or on MS IE; it said error, file not found. All other books worked
fine. it is the link on CCA that is the problem. Using the link on tombo
instead worked.
In any case, this link should open the book in
I clicked on every image in that book. They all load on both Firefox and

Sometimes this sort of error can be due to a "bad" link. If you can copy
and paste the link you're trying to access, others can try clicking on it
to see if it works for them. If it doesn't work for us, then the problem
is not on your end, but an error on the website.

Firefox, Edge (formerly Internet Explorer), Chrome, Safari, are browsers.
I tried it on both Firefox and Chrome and both worked for me. So it's your

Yes, Elaine's that's what I'm after. I'm going to work with Joe since his
brother knows the priest there. So maybe in a month I'll have an answer.

I actually knew it was Sao Miguel, but in my great-grandma's naturalization
papers she names it as San Miguel, so I thought maybe that's what the
called it, haha. Maybe it was just typed in incorrectly. I did find

Did they give you a copy of the papers the bride and groom actually filled out
themselves?? The first time I asked for the record they gave me their written

Only "Sao Miguel" was listed with Vital Records. That's why I'm after the

Cheri,
Since the marriage took place to New Bedford, did you contact the Vital Records
and ask for the paper the bride/groom actually filled out for the marriage
license. There was much more information on that than there was on the other
papers and online. They are not crazy to look it

Alameda County, California. I don’t know if you
