Just wanted to chime in, about visting the Azores.
My husband and I, visited Faial and Sao Miguel, three years ago.
The people are so gracious and halpful.
Neither one of us speak or understand Portuguese.
We, didn't find that a barrier, because a lot of the residents have either
in the States. Super
nice people.

Please, try to avoid come to Portugal and ask for a onibus, or Seu
Manuel, or suco instead of autocarro, Senhor Manuel or sumo. It may
look the same language, but it's not.

language learners dialects are essentially different languages instead of
idiosyncratic extensions as they are to native speakers. Learn the language as
