I believe it's cuneus in Latin.
The Italian name Cuneo also translates to wedge in English.

There were/are many Cunhas in the Half Moon Bay area (the middle school
bears the name). I never heard of any using an Americanized version--even
though there could be problems pronouncing it. However, if it was chased to

Machado often became Marshall. I don't think I've heard of it becoming
Martin. Martins maybe was Martin. I'll have to dig out that sheet tomorrow
and look to see if Cunha is on it.
