Jeremy, I have ancestors that came from Sao Jorge and settled in San Gregorio, California. I would be interested to know if they appear in #7 "Sao Jorge Island Azores Islands Families and Their Descendants in Ribeira Seca, Sao Jorge Topo, Sao Jorge and California, United States of America". My great grandfather was Manuel Isidoro Bettencourt. and his wife was Josephine Enos (or Pimentel I've seen both in the records of my grandfather and his siblings). He was born ~1864 and she was born ~1871. I had my DNA tested and have come up with matches that have Bettencourts, Pimentels, Vieiras, Silvieiras come up a lot but most don't have very good trees if they even have a tree posted on Ancestry. I'm having difficulty doing genealogy on my paternal grandfather's side of the family because of the strange surname rules (compared to northern Europe where all my other ancestors came from). My great grandparents dropped the Bettencourt name and the surname became Isidoro here in the United States.
