My family names are too confusing to get into. Suffice it to say, they
underwent many (6+) name changes while on the island. As you may have
discovered while searching, names are not permanent in the Azorean culture.

As a newcomer, might I suggest a sticky with a list of your other sites
and some of the more common resources available. I keep finding new
resources in some of the old posts here that have been very helpful.

Thank you Cheri! Without you having started this group, I never would have
found the ancestors that I have found and would not have met all the
wonderful people on the site who have helped me when I've been stuck it's a
little hard for a legally blind person to read some of those documents.
I got turned onto this group by Cheri herself, when I wrote an email to the
FTDNA website she responded to me, we spkoe on the phone for over an hour
and I learned a lot, soon after I was using this group, I had my DNA tested
which I never thought of before. In the short time I've been a member
