Last week a number of you gave me your thoughts and advice on determining
if these two couples...
(1) Manoel Fernades Lordello and Clara Andrade, and
(2) Manoel Fernades Lordello and Anna de Andrade Moira (Moura)
were in fact the same couple or two different couples.

After a bit of sleuthing I've been able to determine that these are two
different couples (with as much certainty as one can have looking at fading
early 18th century documents).

Although I've not been able to find the marriage record of the first couple
(Manoel and Clara), I found baptismal records for six of their children
including what may be their first, Manoel, born on April 4th 1702 (

This couple had children in 1704, 1708, 1712, 1715 and 1718.

Couple number 2 (Manoel and Anna) were married (as posted earlier) on
September 29th 1709 in Santo Espirito, Santa Maria (

)

I found three of their children and they were born in 1710, 1713 and 1716.

Looking at this you can tell that this is not a second marriage for
Manoel... These are two different couples with eerily similar names living
in a tiny village on a tiny rock in the middle of a very big ocean.

Mystery solved...

Thanks all.
