Hello,
I have, and am still adding the San Luis Obispo County Cattle Brands and
Dairy/Agricultural record to a search portal at
https://sites.google.com/site/slobrands/home
This project includes almost entirely Azorean Dairymen throughout the County,
so I am posting it on this list!

Wow, Jeremy, this is a great resource! I wish the guy who has the early
cattle brand book for Monterey County would do the same! I have a one-page
list where my Avo's brand is located but that's it. I wonderful to see the
brand though and adds to the info on my grandparents.

Does anyone know a place that sells this, or somewhere online with the book?
Thanks!

I've got a payment question, so I thought I would post it to all lists.
Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express.
If you want to use PayPal, you need to call them at 713-868-1438 (then

I believe this is the Chaves book I purchased years ago. I gave it to my niece
in law who is a Chaves from Santa Maria. Joao Ventura, Terceira helped me
obtain it.

The Horta Archive web site has its own page (no flag to English though).
It's also trying to be portal to other genealogical things too (CCA,
CITCEM, emigration to Brazil, some unpublished manuscripts).

They do not have the books, this fellow who lives in Big Sur has the book
that includes the 1940's (don't know how that happened) but he looked up my
grandfather's brand and copied the page. The County Courthouse here says
they don't have any of them! I've been there and asked.

Wow! I'm sorry that's truly stinky. It IS interesting though how every county
has such a differrent situation. I.E. Los Angeles gave theirs to the natural
history museum and they won't let anyone see it!

It doesn't show up on line, or searching through university libraries or
Worldcat, so Angela might need to go to a rare book store to see if they
can find it.

I was doing some research for an article for my blog and came upon a really

after all these years I didn't fully understand the route that the Azorean

Well that's the pits! Monterey gave their Naturalization papers and
Declarations of Intent to the Monterey Historical Society but at least they
will let you come and search!
