Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Getting rid of the Private people in the new Family Trees on FTDNA

2014-09-14 Thread Cheri Mello
I know. It feels like they released a beta to the public!! They know.
They have a bunch of admins up in arms. And the conference is next month.
IT/Engineering is going to have to go in body armor! Or they are going to
have to search us admins for rotten tomatoes because IT/Engineering may get
some!!

I have made everything private. Until they fix their problem I intend to do
so. I feel their system is a breach of our privacy.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Dutra from Faial

2014-09-14 Thread Elizabeth Migliori
Hi Nancy,
Hope you are enjoying the Genealogy class with Cheri and George. They are
GREAT!!
I knew this was all really familiar but couldn't put my finger on it.
Manuel P. Dutra.
They are on the same page (30-31)of the 1925 R.I. State Census as my great
grandmother when you get it off Ancestry.
I'm sure there is a relationship to those I grew up with.
Shows his father as John P and mother as Mary N. sisters as Laura and Mary.
I knew all the other families on that street next to them.

My husbands's maternal grandfather was, Manuel Perry Dutra and lived on
 Turner Road.
We think his wife's maiden name was, Roche.
They had two children, Manuel Perry Dutra Jr., he was know to family and
 friends as Babe.
His sister was , Mary Francis Dutra.
The Sr. Dutra's, were from Faial.
After my husband's, Tete Babe died, his daughter had given us a paper,
 that a relative gave him.
It was all about the Dutra's discovering Faial.
There is a plaque on The Duta's church there.
Spelling of the surname was differeny but Dutra evolved from it.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Dutra Lucas, from Faial and Sao Jorge, born before 1840

2014-09-14 Thread Cheri Mello
Repost for Ginny, mioakhaven at aol.com

Does anyone have Josefa Luise Dutra, who married Jose Joaquin Lucas in the
Azores and lived and died their in their files?

I believe he was from Sao Jorege and she may have been from Faial. Both
would have been born before 1840 as therir son, Jose Joaquin Lucas, birth
year has been stated as 1840. The couple had at least 2 other children,
girls. One came to USA with son Jose to New England. He later came to San
Francisco East Bay Mission San Jose area. According to family, Josefa and
Jose's son was born on Sao Jorge, Urzalina District.
