What I was implying was that many people have taken all three types of tests
(Y-DNA, MtDNA and Family Finder) so the total number of tests taken is much
greater than the 930.

Hi Cheri , Is the Family Tree DNA you mention the 'Family Search
DNA? Can you please tell me where to find the Family Tree DNA? My
Portuguese ancestry comes from my fathers side, I am a female , what sort
of tests should I be looking at ordering please. Our relative came from

Hi George,
A Y-DNA gets the top of your pedigree chart ONLY. Your strict paternal
line. Your father's father's father's line only. 37 or 67 markers gets you
into a genealogy time frame. I don't know what surname that line winds up
with.
An mtDNA test gets the bottom of your pedigree chart ONLY.
Cheri,
I want to ask you some questions just to make sure I understand the
difference of what results I would get from Family Tree. If I do the Y-DNA I
would get the Medeiros line but not the Pereira line since my surname is
Medeiros ? If I want to get some info on my Pereira line I would
Cheri and Angela,
Thanks. I'll try again.

That is very interesting Ricardo I had noticed some time ago that Sao
Miguel and Pico shared more DNA than I had expected. Do you happen to know
which freguesias those Azorean samples trace their most distant known
paternal ancestors to? Do you have any indication of which area of the
Minho?
Hi Chris M,
I have never heard of the company that you mention.
If you do an Internet search on Family Tree DNA, it will come up. Or you
can just go to your address bar and type: www.familytreedna.com or if
that's too long, www.ftdna.com will redirect you to the
www.familytreedna.com site.
Oops. Yeah, if I turn off that blocker/No script thing, I can read it.

Sorry Rick, I misread what you wrote.
We have 932 total members (about 928 are unique members - a couple of
people goofed when ordering a test).
Y-DNA tests: 418
mtDNA tests: 366
Family Finder: 558
This adds up to over 1300 tests, so yes, members have ordered more than one
type of DNA test.
I think it only asks for login in case you wish to download the PDF article
