Is there a way to search passports by name? Is there a master list in PDF
format, for example?
Thank you for your help. This group is a fantastic resource!

Thank you so much, Cheri!
I know... it's hard not to get lost in the weeds.
All I'd love to find is:
1) My great grandfather's date of birth (and death).
2) The year of his departure for Rio de Janeiro
I used one of the resources you suggested, "immigrant arrivals in Rio de

and Pico, Azores,
Isola delle Femmine, Sant' Elia, Sicily

I have no idea if this is the Manuel da Ponte connection you seek. Thanks
to JR pointing out where the parish of Santa Luzia is (Feteiras), I found
the baptism of the Manuel Francisco da Ponte that married in Urzelina, São
Jorge. It was his father that was native to Fenais da Luz as the

with Velas, Sao Jorge.
I hit something accidentally and I don't know how to get my print back to
normal size.

Taking into account the accent of each island, I would say that "Vela da
Tresada" would translate to "Ilha da Terceira"

Hi Hugo,
If the group photo was taken in April, maybe someone was handing out a copy
to each of the men. To keep track, they noted the date they gave them the
photo??
Maybe it's the date each man left. So many things it could be.
At least it establishes more of a time line for you. The photo
Another bit of info from my match's foster mother:
Her husband’s Naturalization records say that Mary Alice was born in Vela
de Tresada, Azores Islands and that she was born on February 7, 1907.

Apologies, Cheri. I do not wish to exclude anyone.
What I said above (for the benefit of all) is this:
Joaquim de Souza Silveira, my maternal grandfather, had at least one
brother (whom, I believe, was older). His name was José de Souza Silveira.
I know little about him, but I have two photos
