I am working with a DNA match and I'm perplexed. Her great grandparents
were Jacintho Botelho Feleja and Maria da Gloria Leocadio (aka Leocadio da
Ponte, Pacheco Leocadio). I'm very familiar with the Leocadio as I connect
with them on the Mello Castanho side and know one of the descendants.

The Botelho Feleja are giving me fits. I can't get passed Jacintho Botelho
Feleja to who his possible ancestors might be. I have found a smattering
of Botelho Feleja's in Maia starting in the 1890s. Before that, nothing.
Jacintho was probably born around 1905-1910. There is a link to Braga and
Castanho, so those might be my connections.

Is it an alcunha or were the Botelho Feleja's from somewhere else? The
records are not conclusive.

I found Alexandrinha, bp 20 Nov 1904, to Jose Botelho Fleja and Julia
Assumpcao Farrinha. The record says he was from Porto Formoso and she from
Maia. He was son of Manoel Botelho Fleja and Rosa de Braga.

Daughter, Angelina was bp. 13 Apr 1900, to Jose Botelho Feleja and Julia
d'Assumpcao. He from Porto Formoso and she from Maia. He is listed here
as son of Manoel Botelho and Rosa de Braga and she daughter of Manoel
d'Araujo and Rosa Assumpcao (she may also be a Braga)

Then, I find Antonio, bp 27 Jan 1900, son of Francisco Raposo Filena and
Maria Julia Castanho. It says they were from Maia. Maria Julia's parents
were Antonio Botelho Folleja and Maria Castanho.

Antonio & Maria's daughter was Francisca da Conceicao, also said to be born
in Maia. She married Jose Carvalho, one son, Jose, b. 11 Jan 1900.
Francisca's parents are listed as Antonio Botelho Felisha and Maria
Castanha.

There was a marriage between a Antonio Feleja, filho naturel of Maria da
Conceicao of Porto Formoso to Melania da Souza, dau of Antonio Pacheco and
Maria Julia, 4 Feb 1901, Maia.

I feel like Manoel Botelho Feleja who married Maria Castanho and Manoel
Botelho Feleja who married Rosa de Braga are related, but I don't know how.

I did on search on the archivo website for Feleja and found an Inventario
for Maria da Gloria Leocadio as recipient and then it says Tribunal Camarca
de Ribeira Grande, Jacintho Botelho Feleja. The file is dated 5 Mar 1945
to 16 Mar 1845. These are my match's ancestors.

If anyone is researching this family, perhaps you have the missing bit of
information I am looking for that pieces it all together. As they are
connected to Braga maybe JR or someone else has them in their info.

Thanks!
